Shadow and Bone Season 2 has been Confirmed — just announced at Netflix Geeked Week

The first news of Netflix Geeked Week has come in. The cast broke the news in a clip, but did not reveal when the next season would be. Fans of the Grishaverse have been waiting for this news for weeks, but it seemed to be taking a little longer than it has in the past.

Today's news comes less than a month after "Shadow and Bone" began streaming on Netflix (it debuted on April 23), and the news was expected since Netflix typically announces renewals and cancellations about a month after their debut. Fans of "Shadow and Bone" are now on the winning side, as Netflix announced the cancellation of "Jupiter's Legacy" last week. Season 2 of [Shadow and Bone] will consist of eight new one-hour episodes. Showrunner, writer, and executive producer Eric Heisserer said in a press release that he is "honored and excited to return to the Grishaverse and continue the story of our beloved characters, especially Milo."

Grishaverse mastermind Lee Bardugo said, "I've been writing Grishaverse for nearly a decade now and am excited to continue this adventure. There are still so many places I have barely visited and I can't wait to introduce readers to more of the saints, soldiers, ruffians, thieves, princes, and privateers who make exploring this world so much fun."

In a previous interview, Heisserer prepared fans to look forward to future series. With so many books in the Grishaverse, Heisserer has plenty of material for what's next. He has a "thorough" plan for Season 2 of Shadow and Bone, which he said he has been chewing over in his head for years.

As for how many more seasons there will be, he previously said he was planning a trilogy of seasons, but now tells Collider that it "could be much more than three seasons." How many more seasons? He added, "I feel like this production will remain strong and healthy for four seasons. But I'm very nervous to talk about it. I feel like a baseball player pointing to the rafters and I have no idea."

The cast for Season 2 of "Shadow and Bone" is definitely going to grow. Heisserer told Collider that Dregs will finally get Wylan Van Eck. Heisserer told Collider that Dregs will finally get Wylan Van Eck, declaring that there will be "100% more Wylan" in the second season.

The leader of the pirate fleet, the sternhound Nikolai Rantsov, will also be added. Arena and Mal need Nikolai's help.
