Samsung's Galaxy S21 FE is a more affordable "fan edition" of the Galaxy S21 and may be priced lower than the previous model.

According to Sammobile, Korean media outlets claim that the Galaxy S21 FE will be priced between 700,000 won and 800,000 won, or $620 to $720, at launch. For reference, the Galaxy S20 FE was launched in Korea for 899,000 won ($810), so this information suggests that the Galaxy S21 FE will be approximately $100 cheaper than the previous model.

The Galaxy S20 FE was released last October for $699 (a cheaper 4G model was also released outside the US). If the above reports are accurate, the Galaxy S21 FE is expected to start at $599 when it debuts later this year.

To maintain continuity with the S21 series, this lower starting price compared to the previous model is also likely. The flagship Galaxy S21 was initially priced at $799 when it was launched in January of this year, significantly cheaper than the Galaxy S20's initial price of $999 back in 2020. It would make sense for the Galaxy S21 FE to continue the trend of lower starting prices compared to its immediate predecessor.

The Galaxy S21 FE release date has not yet been confirmed, but it is expected to follow the trend set by its older brother, the Galaxy S21, once again, and launch a bit earlier than previous FE models. One leaker claims that production will begin in July, with an August or September launch. This would be an earlier release date than the Galaxy S20 FE, which launched in October.

The smartphone itself has not been unveiled in an official setting, but new renderings of the Galaxy S21 FE may have revealed what color options will be available in addition to the phone's design. Another alleged Galaxy S21 FE leak, this one from Geekbench, suggests that the budget device will feature a Snapdragon 888 processor and 6GB of RAM.

Hopefully, we will hear more specific details about the Galaxy S21 FE soon, but if these leaks are indeed correct, this could be a pretty attractive device for those shopping in the mid-range category.
