The new MacBook Pro2021 was tipped for a big announcement at WWDC

Update: No mention of the MacBook Pro at WWDC 2021, mainly detailing the new features coming to iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS 12 Monterey. WWDC 2021's live blog will showcase Apple's biggest news at the event.

For clarity, what follows is an original report on what the news and rumors make us expect at WWDC 2021:

Apple will unveil the MacBook Pro 2021 at WWDC 2021 and may launch new 14-inch and 16-inch versions of its flagship notebook.

This is according to a research note by Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives, seen by MacRumors, who predicts that the MacBook Pro will be unveiled at Apple's annual developer-centric event. the MacBook Pro reveal will be the first time the Cupertino company will be part of "several surprises" that the Cupertino company has in store for WWDC.

We have already heard other rumors that a new MacBook Pro may be unveiled at WWDC. However, the WWDC 2021 teaser image shows a carton-like trio of characters peering into a MacBook.

Such images suggest that macOS will be the focus of WWDC, and Apple will likely detail code improvements to get more performance out of the Apple M1 chip.

However, the Apple M2 chip (or M1X) is expected to make an appearance. Therefore, it is possible that Apple will show off a slice of its silicon and unveil a new MacBook with that chip. Perhaps to call back to the classic "one more thing" style reveal. Somewhat oddly, however, Ives said that the M1 chip will be in the new MacBook, but given the snippets of information about the upgraded Apple Silicon chip, we think not.

Aside from the upgraded chip, the MacBook Pro 14-inch and MacBook Pro 2021 16-inch are expected to come in refreshed designs. The transition from backlit LED displays to mini-LED technology could allow the MacBook Pro's Retina display to offer better brightness and contrast.

There are rumors that Apple will bring back HDMI and SD card readers to the MacBook Pro. There are also rumors that MagSafe will return after years of MacBooks relying on USB-C connections.

Apple's WWDC 2021 keynote will take place on June 7, so we don't have long to wait to see if these predictions and rumors come true. However, if you want a new laptop now, we invite you to take a look at our summary of the best laptops.
