Sony PSVR Spotlight doesn't provide details on PSVR2, but the first look of the VR game is a lot

Even though Sony has already begun teasing PSVR 2 for PS5, the company is still focused on its aging VR headset, which was released in 2016. To that end, Sony has announced seven new PSVR titles, some of which will be released later this year.

Sony's PSVR Spotlight yesterday (June 3) shared details on a wide variety of games, including Rebellion's stealth FPS Sniper Elite VR and M-Theory's previously announced adventure game Wanderer. Some had been previously announced, but Sony certainly provided new details and trailers for these multiplatform titles. [The new trailer for "Wanderer," for example, briefly depicts the time-traveling exploits of the game's protagonist, Asher Neumann, which fans found intriguing. Asher is on an adventure to change the future using a special watch he inherited from his grandfather. Players must solve puzzles, participate in unique action scenes, and essentially guide the protagonist through this story-driven VR experience.

Currently, there is no release date for M-Theory's Wanderer, but expect it to appear on PSVR, Oculus, and Steam VR later this year. Sony has shared when "Sniper Elite VR" will be available for purchase. As of now, the WW2 shooter will be available for PSVR (and other platforms) on July 8, 2021.

The PSVR Spotlight also revealed the release date for Trebuchet's "Winds & Leaves," an engaging survivor game that will launch on July 27 and will allow players to plant various trees and use special tools and abilities (including time speeding and rapid including a device that ages them) to maintain their foliage, tasking them with restoring life to a barren world.

One of the highlights of the show was extended gameplay footage of Fracked, an action-packed FPS being developed exclusively for PSVR by nDreams ("Phantom: Covert Ops," "Far Cry VR"). In this video, the unnamed protagonist traverses a construction site in a snowy mountainous region, taking down numerous enemies with machine gun and shotgun combos. Not much of a plot is shown, and the release date is not set beyond "this summer. Still, what was shown was quite interesting to watch.

Another highlight was Vertigo Games' "After the Fall," a four-player co-op survival horror game, also slated for release this summer, featuring a creepy atmosphere, fast-paced action, and an army of undead monsters. Vertigo is known for offering exciting zombie-filled fun, and Arizona Sunshine is well worth the PSVR purchase. The game also supports cross-platform multiplayer. Survival horror fans should definitely keep an eye out for After the Fall.

Sony announced several new games during the PSVR spotlight: Survios, the developer of Creed: Rise to Glory and The Walking Dead Onslaught, with Taito. In collaboration with Taito, they have announced a 3D version of the classic Puzzle Bobble game, dubbed Puzzle Bobble 3D: Vacation Odyssey, which maintains the series' cuteness (yes, Bub and Bob are back!) and puzzle-like gameplay! . The difference is that the bubbles now float in three-dimensional clusters that rotate in real time. The idea is to fire matching bubbles into these clusters and pop them, keeping in mind that you are playing in a 3D space with its own physics (as before); certain solutions will require a sharp eye and a precise shot.

Storm: Castle of Sin also made its first appearance during the show. Currently in development by Endeavor One, this stealth-based game is set in feudal Japan. Players will step into the shoes of Kenshiro, the last survivor of the Arashi family, who seeks revenge on his murdered family. Players will use swords, bows, traps, and their trusty wolf companion to infiltrate various environments and defeat their enemies, and hopefully PSVR 2 will be backwards compatible with all these new titles.
