Jupiter's Legacy Season 2: Is it happening?

Bad news for fans hoping for a "Jupiter's Legacy" Season 2 - "Jupiter's Legacy" has been canceled by Netflix.

Based on Mark Millar's comic of the same name, "Jupiter's Legacy" follows a family of superheroes and their hopes for a second generation to carry on their legacy. Miller's works that have been adapted to film include "Kick-Ass" and "Kingsman": he has also worked on "Old Man Logan" and "Captain America: Civil War" for Marvel and DC, respectively.

"Jupiter's Legacy" was released on Netflix in May to mixed reviews, with critics giving it a low 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. With an audience score of 72%, the show seemed to be popular with Netflix users and spent several weeks in the Netflix Top 10. But the show is not expensive to produce (season one reportedly cost $200 million). And it appears that Netflix has decided that the ratings are not worth the high price tag.

Netflix has not completely abandoned the world of Jupiter's Legacy, as it has ordered an animated spin-off series titled "Super Cruise."

As for the story, readers already familiar with the original will be able to figure out where "Jupiter's Legacy" is headed.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Miller previewed what the second season might have been about.

"We know where we're going. I mean, the book is a good template. But, not to be too cocky, but we know it all depends on whether the audience responds the way we want them to.

"I feel like audiences are going to love it. The response so far has been fantastic. So, yeah. I mean, we're always talking privately about what we want to do, but we can't do anything official until we have the numbers."

Season two would probably have shifted the focus to the children after already delving into the origins of the Justice Coalition. The show would have continued to explore the power struggle between Sheldon and Walter, and would have seen the Union get a new leader if Walter got his way.

In announcing the cancellation of Jupiter Legacy, Miller Twitter said, "We made the tough call of letting go of our incredible cast from their show commitments."

Most likely, had the show continued, the cast of the upcoming Jupiter's Legacy would have returned:
