The Rimac Nevera is a horribly fast electric hypercar with an equally scary price tag

Meet the Rimac Nevera, an electric hypercar with outrageous power, breathtaking top speed, and a price tag beyond the reach of the average person. It is an electric hypercar with outrageous power, breathtaking top speed, and a price tag that is out of reach for the average person.

Four electric motors give this Croatian-made EV 1,914 horsepower, a 0-60 sprint in just 1.85 seconds, and a top speed of 258 mph.

Rimac will produce only 150 four-motor Nevellas in GT, Signature, Timeless, or Bespoke trims. But at a price of $2.5 million, who can afford them?

At the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Croatian boutique automaker Rimac stunned the car enthusiast community with its C_Two, a swoopy concept car with over 1,900 all-electric horsepower. Since then, Rimac has developed and refined its stunning show car into a production vehicle, which now bears the name Nevera

.

This is Croatian for a sudden and unexpected storm in the Mediterranean, a fitting description for Rimac's latest creation; the core of Nevera is an H-shaped lithium/manganese/nickel battery filled with 6,960 cells generating 1.4 MW of power, with both axles powered by single The output is via permanent magnet electric motors connected to the speed gearboxes and each wheel. [Output is 1,914 hp and 2,360 Nm (approximately 1,741 lb-ft) of torque. This allows the Nevera to get to 60 mph in just 1.85 seconds and the quarter mile in just 8.6 seconds. Rimac does not publish trap speeds, but states that the time required for Nevera to reach 186 mph is 9.3 seconds.

The same goes for Nevera's ability to fill up with a 500 kW charging system; according to Engadget, it can be charged from empty to 80% in 19 minutes, but finding the right infrastructure to do so may be difficult. The range is 340 miles on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) cycle, a final figure from the EPA that is significantly lower than the 620 miles Tesla is projecting for the upcoming Tesla Roadster 2022.

While the Nevella's horsepower has not changed since its concept car days, its aerodynamics have changed significantly. Rimac tweaked the bodywork, splitter, air intakes and diffuser, and radiator to not only make the Nevera more aerodynamic, but also to keep key parts at the proper temperature.

As a result, the Nevera's powertrain and Brembo CCMR carbon ceramic brakes are now 30% more efficient at cooling at low speeds, and its aerodynamic performance is 34% better. In the very slippery "low drag" mode, the Nevera's drag coefficient is 0.3; for maximum traction, the "high downforce" setting increases downforce by 326%.

This feature will help Rimac when it releases its AI-powered Driving Coach feature in an over-the-air update in 2022. running on the NVIDIA Pegasus operating system, Driving Coach uses Nevera's 12 ultrasonic sensors, 13 cameras, and 6 radars, and provides the driver with audio and visual guidance to help improve steering, driving lines, and braking and acceleration points on a selected list of tracks.

Only 150 wealthy buyers will have access to the full performance of the Nevera. It will be sold through Rimac's network of 19 dealers in major cities in Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia, priced at approximately $2.44 million.
