AT&T3g Network shutdown coming - does your phone still work?

Carriers have been shutting down their 3G networks for some time now, but AT&T has set a shutdown date; after February 22, 2022, many older devices will no longer work on the network, but AT&T has published a list of which devices will still be accessible .

This list, found by XDA Developers, is fairly extensive and includes several phones and tablets released within the past 5-6 years. Basically, if it supports LTE and VoLTE, you're safe. If you want to see the full list, here it is.

Of all the carriers, AT&T has things the clearest. Not only do they provide deadlines, but the list they have created is very useful. This is not true of Verizon or T-Mobile, which have repeatedly delayed shutting down their 3G networks.

Verizon delayed its 3G network shutdown to December 31, 2022, and T-Mobile delayed its UTMS 3G network shutdown to April 2022. Sprint's CDMA 3G network will be shut down on January 1, 2022. Kudos to AT&T, as neither of these two carriers has revealed that many details about what devices will continue to be available.

There is concern among those who rely on AT&T's 3G network for their alarm systems. Many are concerned that consumers and businesses will not have enough time to switch, and are asking the FCC to force AT&T to delay its shutdown.

Again, any device that supports LTE data and what AT&T calls "HD Voice" (Voice over LTE) will continue to be available. This includes the iPhone 6 and later, many Samsung devices, the Pixel 2 and above, and several more budget and lesser-known devices.

The list of tablets is also quite large, though smaller than phones. If you're worried about whether your phone will continue to work with AT&T next February, check out the full breakdown.
