Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Info Surface- and it towers over the new iPad Pro

Yesterday, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab S7 FE through a press release, and today it appears to have announced the successor to the S7 through a survey in Korea.

The survey, discovered by SamMobile, lists three different high-end tablets under the codenames Basquait 1 through 3. The simplistic diagrams included do not suggest that these are Samsung's upcoming folding tablets, but they promise the enviable specs that one would expect from the Galaxy Tab S line.

The biggest standout? A huge 14.6-inch slate that could be the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which would be much larger than the 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2021.

Basquait 1 would likely be the entry-level Samsung Galaxy Tab S8. This tablet is 6.3 mm thick and features an 11-inch TFT 120Hz display, an 8,000mAh battery, and 45W charging. You may have noticed that these are the same specs as the current Galaxy Tab S7, but the leak emphasizes that it will have 8GB RAM (up from 6GB or 8GB in the previous generation model) and a "fastest next-generation" processor, which should improve performance.

The Basquait 2 looks familiar as well, which means it is almost certainly the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Plus. It is a 12.4-inch OLED device with a thickness of 5.7mm, a 120Hz screen and a 10,090mAh battery. This is also the same as the current Tab S7 Plus, right down to the in-display fingerprint scanner. This also has the same 8GB RAM as the processor upgrade.

Things get interesting with the Basquait 3, which is rumored to be a brand new addition to the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. This 5.5mm thick device will feature a 14.6-inch 120Hz OLED display and a massive 12,000mAh battery. That means it will weigh 650 grams (502 and 575 grams for the smaller models) and will have a second camera on the front with a 5MP ultrawide sensor in addition to the 8MP lens on all models.

They will also come with larger internal storage options: the S8 and S8 Plus are listed at 128GB or 256GB, while the Ultra models come with 128GB or 512GB of internal storage. The latter option also ups the RAM to 12GB, but the processor remains the same as the other models.

Wi-FI, LTE, and 5G tablets will be bundled with the S Pen. A new keyboard accessory will also be available, but this will typically be optional. The leaked information shows expected prices in Korean won, with the Tab S8 at about $740, the Tab S8 Plus at $1,120, and the Tab S8 Ultra at $1,320. However, with more storage and added cellular support, prices will be higher, as expected.

No release date was provided, and given that the previous generation launched last winter and the FE version literally just appeared yesterday, there is no guarantee that these tablets will arrive anytime soon. In any case, Samsung seems to be making strides in developing premium tablets, but in terms of penetration, they are overshadowed by the iPad and iPad Pro.
