[A fan theory discusses spoilers for Zack Snyder's latest film, Army of the Dead, based on a fan theory. And this isn't the only big story happening right now: the Army of the Dead time-loop controversy has a lot of meat on its bones.

First, Army of the Dead's robot zombies are not just a fan theory. Some might talk about the robot zombies in Army of the Dead as if it were a "what if" possibility. Rather, Zack Snyder himself gives us good reason to believe that we are on to something.

Near the end of "Army of the Dead," we get a very small moment that reveals everything, fast forward to 1 hour and 55 minutes, and prepare to squint.

Scott (Dave Bautista) and his treasure-hunting, zombie-killing mercenary band are trying to fight their way out of a casino. The gang then accidentally shoots a zombie in the face, revealing what lies beneath.

Specifically, it's a metal faceplate and glowing blue eyes. Many sparks fly, and once you see them, you'll be able to see "Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood," you'll be sitting on the couch and pointing at the TV, like Leonardo DiCaprio in "In Hollywood.

And yes, it's a robot ...... of a sort. Not only does it look that way, but Snyder himself clearly suggests it as an option (more on this later).

Snyder told Comic Book, "I have thought from the beginning that these zombies embody evolution. In a way, it was a way to keep the zombies canonical and keep them fresh."

He elaborated further, "You see regular zombies, you see robot zombies. Are they monitors put there by the government to monitor the zombies? Is it technology from another world? What is happening there?

All of this leads to the opening scene of "Army of the Dead," where we learn that Zeus (the original zombie) has a connection to Area 51. Are there different types of zombies coming from space? Or is Snyder's line about "monitor" zombies, i.e., narcs placed among other zombies to monitor other zombies, more accurate?

There are two possibilities as to when Snyder will show the details of this robot zombie.

The first is the upcoming animated prequel, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas; the second is Army of the Dead 2, an unidentified sequel that Snyder is already planning. He told Polygon, "Shay [Hatten, co-writer] and I know exactly what's going to happen next.
