Tesla Roadster could be crazy Fast - Musk claims 1.1 - 0-60 in seconds

The Tesla Roadster 2022 is shaping up to be one of Tesla's most impressive vehicles to date. However, the latest information may be a little too impressive to believe, with claims that this electric car may be able to achieve 0-60 mph in 1.1 seconds.

This is according to Elon Musk, who was asked about the rumor on Twitter and claimed that, yes, the Roadster can hit 60 mph in 1.1 seconds. Provided, however, that it is first fitted with the "SpaceX Rocket Thruster Package."

Without the SpaceX rocket thruster package, the second-generation Roadster's 0-60 time would be 1.9 seconds. This is almost identical to the Tesla Model S Plaid, which is expected to arrive in June.

Incredible as it sounds, 1.1 seconds is basically nothing, and comparisons to a roller coaster would be quite apt. That said, Euron would not be allowed to add a rocket to the new roadster.

It is unlikely that the world government would allow Musk's car to "short hop flight" or be powered by a literal rocket. This is obviously a joke, or Elon forgets that Twitter is not a tool for brainstorming crazy ideas.

In any case, it is worth noting that 0-60 in 1.1 seconds is not really 0-60 in that short a time. Unless, of course, Tesla is measuring that speed in the same way it measures acceleration in its current lineup. Tesla measures acceleration after the first foot of travel, not acceleration from the starting point.

Tesla's website says as much, and "Engineering Explained" has a video explaining this system. But simply put, if the Roadster can reach 6 mph on one foot, Tesla will measure a 6-60 acceleration time.

Not that reaching it in 1.1 seconds isn't impressive, just not as impressive as actually reaching that speed from a complete standstill.

Production of the Tesla Roadster is scheduled to begin in early 2022, and it is said to have a range of up to 620 miles on a single charge. Top speed is expected to be around 250 mph.
