Marvel's Eternity trailer teases what comes after the Avengers

The teaser trailer for Marvel Studios' The Eternals has been released, giving us our first look at the dangers humanity faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from both a broad and micro perspective.

And while we're going to break down everything that happens in the Eternals teaser trailer, we don't promise much in terms of answers - since the clip doesn't really seem to want to reveal much about the upcoming Marvel movie with the least explanation.

The trailer opens with Skeeter Davis' "The End of The World" and gently flows into footage of tribal people - and a giant spaceship appears. Cersei (Gemma Chan) asks Ikaris (Richard Madden), "Isn't it beautiful? The image is too dark to make out. He stares at her ominously.

Then we see Senna (Angelina Jolie) in golden armor, but not bright enough to make this trailer a little easier on the eyes, and all incredibly dim. Then we see a woman in a golden helmet (presumably Salma Hayek as Ajack) smiling as Fastus (Brian Tyree Henry) operates the golden glyph. And that will be the Marvel Studios logo - though it must be just for the trailer.

And the trailer follows Cersei as she walks through humanity, as the narrator (who sounds like Hayek) says." We have helped them progress without being led, and we have watched them accomplish wonders. Thena trains for battle. A fortress appears. A child (thought to be a sprite played by Lila McHugh) reads quickly.

Cersei appears in London, and time flies in what seems to be a tragic moment in history." For a long time we have not interfered, until now." Ikaris is dressed in blue armor and makes love to Cersei.

Thena draws her sword. Druig (Barry Keoghan) appears and draws a golden glyph-like force that Fastos used. Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani) appears in a group dance.

A volcano erupts, one of the Eternals sings on a plane, and Black Knight (Kit Harrington) finally appears and witnesses lightning in the distance. Finally, all the Eternals ...... seem to assemble.

Speaking of gathering: the sprite says that Gilgamesh (Ma Dong-seok) is serving the Eternals a meal." Now that Captain Rogers and Iron Man are gone, who do you think will be leading the Avengers?" And. Ikaris suggests that he might lead the Avengers. Thena smiles over her drinking glass, the whole group begins to laugh, and the title card for November 2021 appears on the screen. Until then (or until the next trailer), we'll wait for more information.

And at this stage, it seems unlikely that "Eternals" will replace "Avengers. Perhaps if the "Guardians of the Galaxy" series were to end, it might replace it. But so far, the film doesn't look like an easy hit for Marvel. Sure, the cast is stellar, but the intergenerational storyline and the mysterious, strange tone make one wonder what they won't show us.

Of course, Marvel hasn't made any seriously bad bets yet ("Thor: The Dark World" and "Age of Ultron" are debatable).
