Laptops with OLED screens don't come cheap. At least not until now; the Asus ZenBook 13 OLED boasts a gorgeous OLED display at a surprisingly affordable price.

The machine is available starting at $800, but can be configured with an Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 processor, 1TB SSD, and up to 16GB of RAM. While some users complain about the lack of a headphone jack and cramped keyboard, the 1080p 13" OLED screen is the real star of this machine and is worth the price of admission on its own.

The base price includes either an AMD Ryzen 5500U or an 11th generation Intel Core i5-1145G7 CPU. Port-wise, both configurations have a reasonable amount of room. There is a full-size HDMI 2.0, a USB-A, two USB-C ports, and a microSD card slot. This is much more than the MacBook Air M1.

There are several differences between the Intel and AMD models besides the onboard CPU. First, the Intel model has a 256GB SSD for storage, while the AMD model has 512GB. If you are just using the laptop for high quality streaming, this won't be much of an issue, but if you are installing software or downloading files, 256GB may not be enough.

The AMD model also wins when it comes to battery life; Asus has announced that the AMD version of the ZenBook 13 will last three hours longer when compared to the Intel model. Both have the same 67Wh battery.

The Intel ZenBook 13 has two Thunderbolt 4 ports instead of the standard USB-C 3.2 ports offered by the AMD model, which can make up for the slight difference. Also, the Intel-powered model offers WiFi 6, while the AMD ZenBook 13 only offers WiFi 5. In other words, both configurations of laptops have their advantages and disadvantages.

Neither is a powerful machine, but offering an OLED display at this price point is worth considering. Perhaps the Asus Zenbook 13 will make our best laptops list.
