The Tesla Roadster 2022 will not go on sale until next year, but if you live near the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, you can see the car for yourself.

The car's prototype is on display as part of an ongoing pop-up exhibit, because it's only on display through June 2. This is, interestingly, the day before the Tesla Model S Plaid "delivery event."

The Tesla Roadster 2022 prototype will be joined by the original 2008 Tesla Roadster. We will not be getting into the car or driving it, at least not outwardly.

Of course, this is only a prototype, and things could change, as the Tesla Roadster 2022 is currently not due until sometime next year. Furthermore, the car has already been postponed several times over the past few years, and there is no telling if it will happen again.

However, it appears that Tesla is trying to make these delays worthwhile. The Tesla Model S can apparently go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.99 seconds, has a top speed of 250 mph, and can travel up to 620 miles on a single charge. This sounds crazy, but it is par for the course from a car with a built-in 200 kWh battery pack.

The Roadster is also set to be a "true" sports car, not a sporty sedan like the Tesla Model S Plaid, and will come with a removable glass roof. There may be room for four passengers inside, but the image suggests that it will be quite cramped.

Prices also start at $200,000, with a $50,000 deposit required; the "Founders Edition," limited to 1,000 units, will cost $250,000, fully prepaid.

This is a lot of money to drop on a car and out of reach for most people. So a visit to the Petersen Museum over the next week and a half may be your best chance to see this car up close and personal.
