The new 3DCG series takes place after the events of Resident Evil 4 and stars Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy. The trailer is just over two minutes long, but already we are witnessing spectacular visuals and interesting hints of the plot.

The story of the upcoming "Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness" series begins in 2000 when a U.S. Special Forces helicopter falls during a mission in the Penhamstan Civil War.

The U.S. Army's Mad Dogs team attempts to save those involved in the crash, disobeying orders from command. Led by Jason, the acting commander, the team soon discovers that the dead soldiers appear to be coming back to life while performing "strange movements."

Now in 2006, four agents, including Leon S. Kennedy and Jason, are called to the White House to investigate a recent hacking incident. However, the agents are quickly interrupted by a sudden power outage before they are attacked by a horde of zombies.

The group then decides to investigate what appears to be a top secret file related to a certain biology lab in Shanghai. And as Leon and his team head to Shanghai to investigate, they are attacked by a strange, rat-like bio-organic weapon that puts the group in a "life-or-death situation."

Meanwhile, Claire Redfield (Chris' sister) is staying in Penamstan to help refugees. She then discovers strange images of what appear to be infected people drawn by a boy who cannot speak.

Intrigued by her recent discovery, Claire begins her own investigation to unravel the mystery. Eventually, she learns about a horrific experiment that apparently took place during the Penhamstan Civil War. As the conspiracy unravels, both Claire and Leon move closer to uncovering the truth about what really happened in Panamustan.

2021 has so far been a good year for the Resident Evil franchise. Just two weeks ago, Capcom finally released one of the most anticipated games of the year, Resident Evil: Village. Within four days of its release, "Resident Evil 7: Resident Evil Village" sold 3 million copies across all platforms, helping the video game franchise as a whole break the 100 million unit mark.

And now, with a "Resident Evil Re:Verse" multiplayer game and a Netflix series on the horizon, 2021 looks to be the year of Resident Evil.
