The first beta version of Android 12 is now available. As we predicted, Google has expanded the list of devices that can try out the new software to include 10 handset manufacturers.

This means that even more devices and people will be able to try out the radical changes in Android's interface, performance, and privacy. They are not limited to trying the updated OS on Google's Pixel devices.

Of course, installing the Android 12 beta on a Pixel device is probably the easiest way to try out the software update; there is a guide on how to install the Android 12 beta on a Pixel device, but the simple steps are to visit the Android beta program page and make sure you have an eligible device. From there, just opt in and check for system updates.

Getting the Android 12 beta on third-party phones is a bit more complicated, as each phone manufacturer has its own approach. Below is a list of phone manufacturers with instructions for installing the Android 12 beta and the supported models for which we have that information.

This is quite a list, with some familiar names. I have already installed Android 12 Beta 1 on my Pixel 5 so that I can check out what's new.
