Razor RipStik Rush is ready to break my ankle

Parents looking to get their daredevil children out of the house this summer have another option: Razor has introduced the RipStik Rush, an electric casterboard (think skateboard on two wheels) that slides and drifts on the back of the board, The RipStik Rush is a motorized casterboard (think of a two-wheeled skateboard) that can be driven by sliding or drifting the rear of the board.

The RipStik Rush is essentially an electric version of Razor's original RipStik; the Rush is shaped like an hourglass skateboard, with one wheel on each end instead of two wheels front and back. (This type of wheel is called a caster and is often found on office chairs.)

As a result, the Ripstick can fishtail the rear of the board or drift as if riding a snowboard or sports car.

Since the RipStik Rush is electric, it can be propelled up to 10 mph by an 80-watt motor. The speed can be adjusted with a small remote control with throttle. According to Razor, the RipStik Rush's lithium-ion battery will last up to 40 minutes.

Sorry, but this is for kids only; Razor says the maximum weight is 142 pounds, so it's for kids ages 9 and up.

At $249, the RipStik Rush is considerably more expensive than Razor's other RipStiks. However, none of the models are powered; Razor says the RipStik Rush will be available this summer, but no specific date has been set.

Also coming this summer is Razor's C25 electric scooter. Originally slated to go on sale last October, this intermediate scooter will finally make its debut with a 250-watt motor, 12-inch pneumatic front tires, and an 8.5-inch pneumatic rear wheel. The scooter comes in two varieties: the C25 with a top speed of 18 mph and a range of 18 miles ($549) and the C25 SLA with a top speed of 15 mph and a range of 10 miles ($479).

While not as powerful as the Unagi Model One, it should be an affordable alternative to sub-$500 electric scooters such as GoTrax's.
