ABC Cancels 5 shows to surpass Netflix - here's the dead one

With the season of cancellations in full swing, TV fans anxiously await to see if their favorite shows will be cut or avoided. Sadly, there is bad news for fans of five ABC shows that won't be back next season.

According to TVLine, all five shows, "Rebel," "Call Your Mother," "Mixed-ish," "For Life," and "American Housewife," are off the air. This is a rather interesting collection of shows being cancelled at once, and further evidence that after the COVID-19 pandemic, no series is guaranteed another season.

It is always a shame when a show is cancelled after one season, as was unfortunately the case with the drama series Rebel and the sitcom Call Your Mother. Curiously, "Rebel/Rebel" just premiered last month, and ABC is clearly unimpressed with the initial response and is opposed to giving it a little more time to potentially find an audience.

Legal drama "For Life" and "Mixed-ish," a spin-off of "Black-ish," fared a bit better. Both shows were in their second season, but this news confirms that neither will be able to enter a third year; "American Housewife" is arguably the biggest casualty on this list. The sitcom, starring Katy Mixon as the titular housewife, had just aired its fifth season earlier this year. [Fan favorites like "The Rookie," "The Conners," "Home Economics," "A Million Little Things," and "The Goldbergs" will continue for at least another year. Eight series are scheduled to air, but it has been confirmed that the show will be dropped out of the program.

The end of the 2020-2021 television season saw the cancellation of several high-profile programs. Perhaps the most notable is CBS' Mom, which has already lost one of its stars when Anna Faris was dropped last year. The show's eighth season just finished airing last week and is confirmed to be its last.

It is not only traditional television networks that have canceled shows in recent weeks, Netflix has cancelled three series in a row, and "Irregulars," "The Last Kingdom," and "Dutchess" have all been erased from the streaming service's upcoming content slate

While there are a number of shows that will not return to our screens for the 2021-2022 television season, there are still plenty of exciting new shows and continuing series. Starting with "Stranger Things" Season 4, which should finally premiere later this year.
