Twitter Blue reportedly comes for per2.99 per month — here's what it is

Twitter appears to be working on a paid subscription service. App researcher Jane Manchun Wong discovered a possible new subscription model for Twitter and tweeted its name.

According to Wong, the service is called Twitter Blue and costs $2.99 per month. At this stage, there is not much information about what subscribers will get, but bookmark collections and an Undo Tweet option have been suggested.

Twitter may also be working on a tiered subscription model, Wong added. She speculated that this "stacked tier" might free up other paid features and provide a more orderly, more premium experience for subscribers.

Twitter has not confirmed this finding, but microblogging services typically refuse to confirm Wong's findings related to new features in advance.

Wong's discovery comes on the heels of recent improvements to the photo cropping algorithm to prevent photos from being cropped in users' feeds, an updated warning system for offensive tweets, and Tip Jar, which allows users to support others' content beyond following and retweeting This follows several new product announcements from the platform, which introduced.

Earlier this month, Twitter acquired Scroll, a paid service that eliminates ads from websites that subscribe to its service. Last year, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey also confirmed to Insider that the platform is involved in the "very, very early stages" of preparing a subscription model.

From this latest news, numerous recent updates, and previous comments by Twitter's top brass, it appears that Twitter Blue is indeed on the way. However, there is still no concrete confirmation as to when the phased subscription version of Twitter will begin or who will be eligible for subscriptions.
