Marvel's "Loki" is just a few weeks away from release, but ahead of that, a new sneak peek from the Disney-plus series has been released.

The clip was unveiled at the MTV Movie & TV Awards and reveals how the God of Mischief met Agent Mobius. Tom Hiddleston, who reprises his role as Loki, made a virtual appearance at yesterday's awards ceremony, just before the new clip was unveiled to viewers. There are spoilers, so please read only if you are familiar with Marvel.

In the one-minute preview, Academy Award nominee Owen Wilson (who plays Agent Mobius of the Time Variance Authority) meets the infamous Marvel antagonist in an elevator scene.

The footage begins with Agent Mobius introducing himself to Loki, who appears to be wearing a prison uniform branded with the Time Variance Authority. When Loki asks the agent if he is being taken somewhere to be killed, Mobius replies that he merely wants to chat, at the same time accusing Loki of lying and mocking his chatty nature.

Loki then asks the agent about how long he has been working for TVA. Curiously, Mobius' reply raises more questions than answers:

"It's hard to say, because time moves differently here."

A confused Loki calls the whole situation "absurd" as the scene ends and the two enter another room.

As confirmed in the clip, TVA is created and monitored by the Time Keepers, semi-human creatures said to have the power to manipulate time energy. Apparently, the Time Keepers wanted to "protect the sacred timeline" and set up the TVA.

In the clip, Loki also expresses his own opinion about the existence of the TVA: "How dare your little club decide the fate of trillions of people in all of existence at the behest of three space lizards ...... Yeah, it's funny."

After the events of The Avengers: Avengers/Endgame and the numerous manipulations of the timeline by the heroes, Loki in 2012 successfully escaped and obtained the Tesseract. However, we still do not know exactly how TVA acquired Loki, or how he came to share the same personality as the Loki that fans have come to love and identify with, only to meet a tragic death at the hands of Thanos.

Loki will be released as a Disney Plus Original on June 9, 2021.
