Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead" will soon be released. Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead" is not only directed by one of the leading action movie directors, but also features one of the most interesting leading men in action cinema. [Snyder directed the excellent "Dawn of the Dead" in 2004. In addition, Snyder is credited not only as director, but also as story and co-writer.

"Army of the Dead" does not appear to have any direct connection to "Dawn of the Dead," but a micro-universe grew up with the production of its own animated-style TV series ("Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas") and prequel film. Co-star Matthias Schweifer will direct and star. [Army of the Dead] will arrive on Netflix on May 21, 2021.

However, cinemas will get first rights to "Army of the Dead" as it opens at a multiplex near you on May 14.

We can't wait; Netflix's YouTube channel will stream the first 15 minutes of "Army of the Dead" on Thursday, May 13. It all begins at 1 p.m. ET, with an interactive experience where fans "become part of unlocking" the first few minutes of the film.

Director Snyder himself and stars Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, and Matthias Schweigerfer will appear. The video will then be broadcast live for 32 hours only.

Early reviews of "Army of the Dead" have been strong. The Hollywood Reporter wrote, "Energy and originality are on display on every level, not to mention humor. [because] it's a stylish, epic, muscular but conventional popcorn pageant with something for everyone."

The AV Club also liked the film, saying, "In a way, this A-budget B-movie is closer to the values of George Romero, the godfather of zombie movies, than Snyder's actual super-adrenaline-soaked remake of Romero's masterpiece."

The new trailer for Army of the Dead begins with Dave Bautista being recruited from his job working at a diner. He opens a large armory before reuniting with familiar faces. And a zombie tiger makes an appearance. The clip is set to Kenny Roger's "The Gambler."

The first trailer opens with a slow-moving ballad ("Lucky Day" by Judy Garland) before much mayhem, as many of Snyder's films and clips do. Soon, we learn that Las Vegas has been bitten by the zombie bug and that the best bet for survival is a group of violent mercenaries.

This is not directly stated explicitly, but is revealed by the crew cutting through the undead with lots of shrapnel. And at the end of the clip we see that, like Danny Ocean's crew, they are in Vegas for the money.

The Army of the Dead cast is led by Dave Bautista as mercenary Scott Ward. Yes, the former WWE champion, who made his name on the screen as Drax the Destroyer in the Marvel movies (and will appear in HBO Max's "Dune"), has been all business lately.

The cast also includes comedian Tig Notaro (as Marianne Peters) and "Power's" Omari Hardwick (as Vanderohe). The remaining cast members known at this time are as follows:

After filming of Army of the Dead ended, actor/comedian Chris D'Elia was removed from the film after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct. He was replaced by comedian Tig Notaro, and director Snyder told EW, "We just felt it was the right thing to do. It was the best thing to do, not only for the sake of this film, but also to respect humanity, people, and decency. Ultimately, it was a very easy choice.
