Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 leak reveals display camera specs below

A new spec leak has revealed some important details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

We learned earlier today that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is reportedly coming later this summer, and while rumors have been popping up regularly over the past few months, most of them have been frustratingly thin on specs. This leak changes that and gives us some real clues as to what to expect from this phone.

The details come from Samsung leaker @FrontTron, who claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a total of three cameras. We are most interested in the front option, which is said to feature a 10MP Sony IMX-374 hole-punch camera and a 16MP Sony IMX-x71 sensor below the display.

Under-display cameras are starting to appear, most notably on the ZTE Axon 20 5G, but this will be the first time they have appeared on a Samsung phone. It is also not the first time we have heard about it, although previously we did not know what specs to expect.

Why is only one of the cameras under the display? Because the hole-punch camera is on the outer screen and is arguably less important. The under-display camera, on the other hand, is placed under the larger foldable display to ensure that the screen is unobstructed by notches, camera holes, and all the other nonsense.

On the back are wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and 3x telephoto lenses, each offering 12 MP resolution. According to leaks, the wide-angle and telephoto lenses may also feature OIS, and the phone itself should be able to record 4K video at 60 fps with all five cameras.

As for the rest of the phone, SamMobile says it will have a 7.5-inch foldable internal display and a 6.2-inch external display, both with 120Hz refresh rates. Internals should include a Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB/16GB of RAM, 256GB/512GB of storage, a 4,400mAh battery, and S Pen support.

The phone should run Android 11 right out of the box, but it would be surprising if Samsung had no plans to roll out an upgrade to Android 12 in the months after launch. The latest rumor is that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will launch in August alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy S21 FE, so it won't be long until we actually see it. In the meantime, we can expect more leaks to hit the internet. Stay tuned.
