Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 3 will be the latest foldable phone when it goes on sale, but it may be more reasonably priced than expected.

According to Twitter tech account FrontTron, the base price of Samsung's new flip phone will range between $999 and $1099, with a top price of $1199. This is basically $300 less than Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip, and once the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is released, foldable sales could increase much more.

The current MSRP for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is $1,449. Even with the maximum specs, the Z Flip 3 will cost $150 less. This new price will be in line with Samsung's most expensive conventional phones, namely the $1,999 Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and the new discounted price of the Z Flip 5G.

Tron's tweet also gives a date of August 3, which coincides with the rumored late 2021 launch date for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. This is the same month that the Galaxy Z Flip 5G was released in 2020, but one month before the Galaxy Z Fold 2 was released. However, Samsung has launched phones earlier than usual this year (for example, Samsung's Galaxy S21 series launched in January instead of the usual March), and the August date is consistent with its speeded-up launch calendar.

FrontTron is not yet a company with an established reputation for leaks, so it is possible that their leaks are not as reliable as we might expect. However, their claims at least seem to be consistent with what we already know, which is encouraging news about their accuracy.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 appears to maintain the same clamshell construction as the Galaxy Z Fold series, with a few key differences.

According to leaked information so far, the new design will integrate the outer notification display and dual cameras into one large glass block, and the display is said to be significantly larger than the original model's 1.1-inch screen. It may also be enhanced with Samsung's newly patented "Armor Frame" technology to address the biggest weakness of foldable phones: durability.

Within the Z Flip 3, a new 5G-enabled chipset like the Snapdragon 888 and 128GB and 256GB storage options are expected. There are no rumors yet about the display inside, but we can probably expect something similar to the 6.7-inch screen with a punch-hole selfie camera in the center that was featured on the first generation model.
