Samsung Galaxy A72 Release Date, Price, specifications and news

The Galaxy A72 is the new top-of-the-line model of Samsung's more affordable Galaxy a series. In some ways, the A72 is comparable to the Galaxy S21 family, but it's unlikely to cost as much as these flagship phones. It certainly gives the Galaxy S20FE a run for its money.

Reviews have already come for this phone and they are quite positive. Overall, the Galaxy A72 is an attractive device. It sports nice display, solid camera technology and big battery. The biggest regret is that, if that's all, you're not coming to the United States any time soon.

So, without further ado, read everything you need to know about the Samsung Galaxy A72.

Samsung said that the Galaxy A72 will not come to the US because the Galaxy S20FE is likely to be competing with the Galaxy S72. In Europe, where the phone is now available, the Galaxy A72 starts at €449. It translates to about 5 534.

Nevertheless, it sounds as if the Galaxy A72 is cheaper than last year's Galaxy A600g, which launched forわ71 5 in the US. (The lack of 5G connectivity may explain the low price. The price would certainly compare favorably with the pixel 499G, which currently costs € 4A5. In addition, Apple's iPhone SE, which lacks a 5G connection, costs €489 abroad.

The Samsung Galaxy A72 is very similar to its predecessor with a curved back and a rectangular camera hump. However, it is slightly larger at 6.5x3.05x0.33 inches. The front camera is located within the hole punch cutout of the phone's display. If you don't, you'll see that it's slightly similar to the Galaxy S21 series, but the A72 doesn't have the contoured cutout of its more expensive cousin.

Samsung offers the Galaxy A72 with 4 colors: great black, great purple, great white, and great blue. After all, Samsung wants you to know that this phone is only great.

The entire phone uses the same color scheme and texture. This provides a more cohesive design and looks like 1 big phone with an Easter theme.

Samsung is well known and loved for its display insight, so we expect the Galaxy A72 to use a beautiful screen. You will get a 2400-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080x6.7. This is a display density of 394ppi. And to keep things very smooth, you get a 90Hz refresh rate.

The latter bit is a step up from the Galaxy A60g with a 71Hz panel, but not as fast as the 72Hz refresh rate of the 52G version of the new Galaxy A5 released along with the A120.

Finally, Samsung wants you to be able to use your phone outside, so it's touting a maximum brightness of 800 nits. The eye comfort shield feature aims to reduce the amount of eyestrain caused by the blue light emitted from the display.

Samsung is leveling off the photo and video experience of the Galaxy A72 from its previous Galaxy a phones as it realized that high-performance cameras are important to people. The phone comes with 64MP main shooter, 12MP ultra wide angle, 8MP telephoto (with 3X optical zoom) and 5MP macro 4 cameras.

Why companies claim that people need macro cameras is beyond us. But at least you also get optical image stabilization (OIS) on the main and telephoto sensors to help eliminate hand shaking. Ultra wide-angle and macro cameras do not have OIS. For video, the Galaxy A72 can record up to 4K, and the "4K Video Snap" feature also allows you to get 8MP still images from any video. Samsung also includes AI scene detection that optimizes shots and an impressive night mode for grabbing low-light photos. The Galaxy A7 also adopts the single take of the Galaxy s series, so you can get multiple shots from different cameras on your phone with 1 shutter. The partnership with Snapchat adds a fun mode bundled with filters and AR effects for your camera phone. Unlike the Galaxy A71 5G, the Galaxy A72 does not have 5G capabilities, according to the information provided by Samsung. This is a strange exclusion, especially given the presence of the Galaxy A52 5G.Perhaps a variant of 5G will appear later this year. So you'll have left A72, which is fine for most people, and LTE. Samsung told me that the Galaxy A72 is using Snapdragon 2, an octa-core CPU with 2 high-performance cores clocked at 1.8GHz and 6 low-power cores clocked at 720GHZ. Last year's Galaxy A71 5G used Snapdragon 765, so you'll probably see a similar SoC if the 5G version of the A72 comes along. The Galaxy A72 has a huge 5,000 mAh battery.

Considering what is expected to be an FHD display and a power-efficient processor, I imagine this phone will last for 2 days or even longer depending on usage. Even if you are watching games or videos, 5,000mAh will go a long way.

Samsung is touting the smart battery feature to further extend battery life. For example, if you leave your phone unplugged overnight, the Galaxy A72 is smart enough to enter power saving mode during the time it normally charges.

For charging, it supports wired fast charging of 25W. Samsung has stated that it has a charger included in the Galaxy A72, but I'm not sure if it will be a full 25W brick.

The Galaxy A72 will come with Android11, with One UI3.1 displayed above. This is inline with the Galaxy S21 series and it's great to see. Not only that, Samsung is committed to the Galaxy A72 with a 3-year software update and a 4-year security update. At the time of writing, this is the highest support available for Android land, surpassing Google's support schedule for Pixel phones.

This phone is yet another element of the wider galactic ecosystem. This includes Galaxy Buds Pro, Galaxy SmartTags, and SmartThings for home automation. The A72 comes with music sharing, which allows you to share music and podcasts on your friends' phones. Or together with buds, you can pair up to two pairs of galaxy buds to Galaxy A72 to you to share the music experience.

The Galaxy A72 looks like 1 great device. This phone offers a lot, including a good display, a powerful camera and a huge 5,000mAh battery. There is no 5G support at the moment, but the Galaxy A72 should still be an excellent device. It faces a lot of competition from the current crop of cheap and mid-range phones. As 2021 matures, it's more likely that even better phones will come with the Galaxy A72. However, for now, if you like Samsung's ecosystem, the A72 is going to be a great device.
