MacBook Air M2 Leak just revealed a new blue color

Where there is smoke in the colorful MacBook Air 2021 renderings, there seems to be fire as well. If the myriad colors of the new iMac piqued your interest, perhaps you'll be glad to hear that something is being planned for the upcoming Air.

Following the blue MacBook Air renderings created by Ian "Renders By Ian," a new report from Zelbo has come out, and following Zelbo, a new report from leaker Jon Prosser indicates that this is indeed the laptop Apple is working on. This is a laptop that Apple is actually working on. And the good news is that his source is the same person who leaked the series of color iMac news we got last month.

Prosser's source first texted him a chart from Apple's presentation at MacWorld in 1999, showing Apple's strategy at the time. Consumers get colorful desktops and laptops; professionals get a slightly more understated design. The chart seems to be a major clue that the leak is about the upcoming Air, not the MacBook Pro 2021.

Then the source said they were "blue MacBook prototypes that looked absolutely amazing." And looking at the above rendering from Ian, we're not going to argue.

That's about as far as the Prosser leak goes, but this seems like something that should happen. Apple's return to colored hardware started with the iPad Air 2020, which had mint green, rose gold, sky blue, silver, and space gray. Look at that purple iPhone 12. Apple loves color in consumer products.

Of course, "Pro" users will continue to get the Pacific Blue iPhone 12 Pro Max in a pretty cool but less exciting shade.

Leaked information on the existing MacBook Air 2021 suggests that the bezels will shrink a bit and MagSafe charging will return. Apple is also reportedly working on a new M2 processor and an M1X processor, but it is not clear which will be in the MacBook Pro 2021 and which in the Air.

Overall, if Apple were to make the MacBook full color again, it would probably be welcomed with open arms. Remember the clamshell iBooks that mimicked the iMacs of the day? It all makes sense, and MacBook Pro buyers would be somewhat annoyed if they didn't get the same color options.
