Quiet Place 2 Release date, trailer, cast, plot, review and more

"A Quiet Place 2" is not standing on its toes--the horror sequel has announced with high fanfare that it will soon be released in a final trailer that teases a new threat facing Emily Blunt and her family.

Yes, "A Quiet Place Part II" (the official title) will finally be released more than a year after its original release date. Paramount delayed the film's release due to the pandemic, a decision that was upheld by director John Krasinski. Now, that silence is about to be broken. For those who prefer to watch it at home, "Quiet Place 2" will be available for streaming on Paramount Plus shortly after its theatrical release date.

"Quiet Place 2" is a follow-up to the first film, which was released in 2018. Krasinski and Brandt star as Lee and Evelyn Abbott, a couple struggling to raise their child in a post-apocalyptic world populated by blind monsters with hypersensitive hearing.

They face constant danger with every sound they make and a terrifying crisis situation when Evelyn (Blunt) gives birth. Their deaf daughter Regan (Millicent Simmons) is the key to finding a way to fight the monsters.

In "The Quiet Place Part II," the Abbott family continues their quest for survival in silence. But when they are forced to venture out into the outside world, they realize that monsters are not the only threat lurking ahead.

What we know so far about "Quiet Place 2" is as follows.

A Quiet Place Part II is scheduled for release on May 28, 2021.

After 45 days, the film will also be available for streaming on Paramount Plus.

The final trailer for A Quiet Place 2 was released online on May 6. It begins with a flashback of Krasinski shopping at a store just before the monster attacks the world. The trailer then shifts to the present day, as Evelyn leads her two older children (and her newborn baby) across the line of sand and into the terrifying unknown.

Similar to the first official trailer, this one begins with Evelyn, played by Brandt, driving her son Marcus in the car when suddenly a creature appears before them. Everything turns to chaos.

The cast of A Quiet Place Part II is led by Emily Blunt as Riggan, Marcus, and Evelyn Abbott, the mother of baby Abbott. She is the widow of Lee Abbott, who died in the previous film. John Krasinski makes a cameo appearance as Lee in the sequel.

The rest of the Abbott family includes Millicent Simmons as Regan, the deaf daughter, and Noah Jupe as son Marcus. Baby Abbott is an infant.

There are several new cast members from A Quiet Place 2. Cillian Murphy plays Emmett, who he describes as "where the center of the world is right now, which is that we all feel like we've finally given up."

Djimon Hounsou will also appear in an unknown role.

Paramount's official synopsis for A Quiet Place Part II reads: "After a deadly event at home, the Abbott family must face the horrors of the outside world while fighting to survive in silence. Forced to plunge into the unknown, the family soon realizes that the threat lurking beyond the sandy road is not the only creature that hunts by sound.

In early screenings last year, Murphy and Hunsoo seemed to be playing human survivors who could be friend or foe.

With "Quiet Place Part II" just days away from a March 2020 release, critics were able to see the film in previews. Their early reactions were summarized:

CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell tweeted that the sequel was "amazing and deserves to be a smash hit. It finds exciting ways to further explore this terrifying environment and is bigger, but still tense as hell."

Uproxx's Mike Ryan said, "A QUIET PLACE PART II is "Tension": it's a movie. The sheer tension in this film made me sick to my stomach. (Also, this turned out to be an amazingly great Cillian Murphy film.) "

Heather Wixon of the Daily Dead News also wrote, "#AQuietPlacePartII was incredibly tense and built on the story from the previous film with unexpected/inspirational twists. Cillian Murphy dominated and Millicent Simmons really came into her own with a truly phenomenal performance."
