Disney World is getting a real working lightsaber - and they're coming next year

On Star Wars Day, a surprise revelation was made that the light saber of your dreams is real. Yes, Disney is bringing a new lightsaber toy (or prop?) to the Star Wars Hotel at Walt Disney World with an extendable, glowing light. - is coming to the Star Wars Hotel at Walt Disney World. And of course, the humming and sizzling sounds that warm the hearts of us Jedi are also lightsabers.

The Disney Parks Twitter account posted a video of a female Jedi revealing the saber while hearing Rey (Daisy Ridley) say "light, dark, balance" in voiceover.

Since the lightsaber in the photo only glows blue, one wonders if other colored blades will be available to give the Force a "balancing" option, as Rey said. Bonus points for those looking for Mace Windu's purple lightsaber. Also, there is no sign of the dark saber that appeared in The Mandalorian, but this is probably still in development.

This follows last month's teaser to the press corps where plans for the lightsaber were first introduced. As for the "Star Wars: Galactic Star Cruiser" hotel? It will open in 2022. The Galactic Star Cruiser Hotel experience will be like nothing fans have ever experienced before, as described in the blog post. It says, "You will be plunged into a Star Wars story where your decisions, actions, or casual conversations will determine how your personal journey unfolds.

The journey will take you into a launch pod that will send you into hyperspace and aboard the star cruiser Halcyon, where you will spend two nights. The hotel is like a Star Wars version of Sleep No More's live interactive theater experience, where you can engage with characters old and new.

Returning to the working lightsaber, lightsaber training will take place during the stay. In the concept art for the lightsaber training, it appears to be avoiding laser beams fired from the walls. No combat is depicted in the submission.

It is unclear as to whether these new lightsabers can be taken home or are merely props during their stay. If you can actually take it home, it will no doubt cost you a pile of Galactic credits. The lightsabers at the Galaxy's Edge theme park cost up to $199 before you add the blades (up to $50).

We'll keep our eyes on the sky for more news on "Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
