Melissa Rauch has found her next big project: a reboot of "Night Court" (well, actually more of a sequel than a full reboot). The series hasn't even been announced yet (it's still in the realm of reports and rumors), but we do know that Rauch may be playing the lead role.

The news comes from Deadline's Nelly Andreeva, who reports that LaRouque will star alongside John Larroquette, who will reprise his role as Dan Fielding from the original series. LaRocque will not only be acting in the series, as it was previously reported that he will be executive producing the Warner Bros. TV series.

It makes sense that Raouk would take on such an important role, as initial reports about the series state that she initiated the project. Rauch's production company After January is behind the show, and she has reportedly approached Warner about reviving the series in a new incarnation. Rauch reportedly had no intention of appearing in the series, but signed on for the lead role after reading the script.

The new show, Night Court, will focus on Abby Stone (LaRouche), daughter of the late Judge Harry Stone (Harry LaVern Anderson), who takes over the night shift at the Manhattan arraignment court. As noted above, LaRouquette is the only other cast member leaked.

This will be LaRouche's first major television role since The Big Bang Theory began airing on May 16, 2019, but she has voice work as Marie Antoinette in Robot Chicken in 2019 and in the Animaniacs reboot in 2020 Offered.

The new "Night Court" reboot has yet to find a home, but Deadline notes that it "has been heating up for a pilot order at NBC for several weeks," meaning it will likely end up on either NBC or its Peacock streaming service .
