Season 3 of the Boys promises 3 times the blood on the head to explode

More blood will be spilled in Season 3 of "The Boys" than in the previous season, and considering we've already seen scenes of heads exploding in the Amazon Prime Video drama, it's going to be a lot of blood.

The Boys cast member Laz Alonso teased a bloody future for Season 3 in an interview with Collider. Alonso, who plays Mother's Milk, revealed that the show's makeup artists use three times as much fake blood.

"Let me put it this way. I was talking to the head of the makeup artist and she's in charge of ordering the blood.

"She said that season 2 is all ....... Even though it's a large amount, I don't think we used more than a gallon of blood in season 2. Season 3 has already used 3.5 gallons of blood. So that should give you some idea of what's going to happen next."

Season 3 of "Boys" is currently in production, and Alonso also revealed that filming is "between a quarter and halfway through."

Season 3 will feature new cast member Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, a darker version of Captain America, the "original superhero" in "The Boys" universe. And Soldier Boy seems to bring out the worst in his fellow superheroes.

According to Alonso, he is "historically a pretty dark character, but the other supers in the ensemble will be dark as well."

Creator Eric Kripke has previously confirmed that the show's next installment will adapt the "Herogasm" storyline from the original comics, which satirizes traditional superhero teams like the Avengers. In this arc, the superheroes pretend to leave Earth to fight an alien threat but actually head to an island resort for a drug-fueled orgy.

The Boys Season 3 is still filming and is not near its end, so fans should not expect to see new episodes until 2022.
