The new Apple TV4K won't solve that biggest problem — here's why

At first, I was really excited about the new Apple TV4K2021, so I downloaded the beta version of tvOS14.5 to one of the Apple TV4K 1 and tried out the new display calibration feature. It sounded cool: you can make sure that your TV screen is producing colors exactly with your phone.

However, setting up everything realized that color balance could not be used because there is Dolby Vision with its own color calibration profile and that was when I started to look more closely at the new Apple TV4K, and it really wasn't the upgrade we needed.

My overall mood about the new Apple TV4K is not exactly excited, but it's because of something good that Apple has done. The old Siri Remote is gone, and instead there is the new Siri Remote, with a clickable navigation button, and on the less malicious touchpad of the previous model

I was used to the old remote for most of the time. It was up to those moments when I would try and run the rewind or fast forward 10 seconds command. And I fumbled and fumbled frequently. The new remote improves on the old remote by moving the Siri button next to the remote and filling its original location with a mute button.

And this looks like the remote that should be shipped with the Apple TV. The rest of us can click the direction button, but those who like the original remote gesture can skim back and forth by dragging their fingers around the edge of the remote's circular D-pad. It's a win-win.

Oh, just like the previous Siri remote, you can buy it separately. Frustratingly, however, it is not cheap. You'll spend22 to get your own new Siri Remote, which is 59 times the cost of the new Roku Voice Remote Pro.

As someone who loves the Apple TV4K (although it's pretty expensive), I can say with confidence that it didn't require a new processor. But with the new Apple TV4K, the A10X Fusion chip comes out and the A12Bionic processor comes out. And having reviewed the ipad, which packs both of these chips, I'm not sure how much boost it will provide. The A10X Fusion-based 2017iPad Pro (10.5 inches) netted the Geekbench4's general performance benchmark of 9,233, while the A12Bionic-based iPad Air2019 landed a little north of that, scoring a score of 11,471. So, there are some differences, but both tablets were pretty fast as they are. Apple is proud that this will enable "significant improvements in graphics performance, video decoding, and audio processing."

And while I didn't think "oh, Apple TV4K is too slow" (its menu navigation is faster than any other streaming device I've tested), this makes a lot of content (Apple focuses on sports) look more realistic and smooth. Apple has listed FOX Sports, NBCUniversal, Paramount+, Red Bull TV and Canal+ as partners in the project. If the Roku Ultra doesn't already offer Dolby Vision at 60fps, this will be big news. And the Roku Ultra is only999.99,ド79 less than the entry-level Apple TV4K

about 1 month ago, I broke down the Apple TV4K2021 wish list. At the beginning of my list is a new remote, thanks to Apple for providing it. It lacks just one thing: the Apple U1 chip. This is the mechanism Apple uses to track devices, including Apple AirTag trackers. Since the remote is one of the devices struggling to track, it's a frustrating pity that you can't use the find My app to figure out which sofa cushion the remote is under.1 Even Roku Ultra has a way to help you find your lost remote control.

In addition, I really think the new Apple TV has driven home the need for a new processor video games (Apple Arcade still seems to be more promising than success) or two image processing is great, all but the high price of Apple TV4K TV179 (ド130 higher than Roku Streaming Stick Plus, Chromecast with Google TV, the best streaming service). 2), Apple TV4K2021 has to do much more than other devices to explain its value.

I would also have accepted that Apple would offer a more affordable Apple TV streaming box, but that doesn't seem to be on the card. For now, the Apple TV4K is good for some (not everyone can run Dolby Vision), but it's still hard to make a serious sales pitch. That is, unless you're like me and value its ultra-clean interface and integration into the command center of the iPhone.

If you are still using Apple TV HD, and you are waiting for a reason to upgrade, if you are like me and prefer the tvOS method, this is the time but the upgrade from the old Apple TV4K to the new model does not seem correct.

Hopefully the next Apple TV will provide the critical jump this box needs. For now, I'm mostly excited about the new remote.
