From a new title in the series, to a rebranding for a man who has revealed a big character and who everyone loves to hate, the finale of Falcon and Winter Soldier had a lot to digest. So it's time to break it all down with the three biggest twists we've seen right now. And what they mean for the future of the MCU.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier finale saw Sam Wilson, dressed in an iconic vibranium shield and brand new uniform, become the leader he needed in that moment. Whether it was fighting the bad guys, rescuing the Global Repatriation Council or being a more active voice in international politics.

People looking at him and talking were wondering who he was, and some were still saying he was a Black Falcon, but we all knew what was going on. Sam finally accepted the mantle of Captain America.

It's a big thread for the entire season of Falcon and Winter Soldier, and Disney Plus practically says that Falcon and Winter Soldier Season 2 is coming by a different name and the picture can say a thousand words, but this 1 title card made us pump our fists into the air from the feeling of victory.

This may not have been some twist, but the title change was not what we were expecting right away:

The finale of Falcon and Winter Soldier felt pretty decisive with Sam Deeng, who has a history of being black Captain America. Here he returned to Isaiah Bradley, one of the black men who was tested for potential Super Soldiers.

While the two discussed throughout the season, Bradley was able to find some peace when Sam took him and his grandson to the Smithsonian and saw the latest addition to the Captain America exhibition: A room dedicated to black soldiers who were part of the Super Soldier Test (at least in part). The statue for Bradley (at least it seemed to be for them).

What it means for the MCU: There's a new Captain America who can lead the next Avengers.

I'm not going to say I saw it coming, except I did it completely. In the synopsis of Falcon & Winter Soldier episode 5, I noticed that Sharon Carter looked like she wasn't the Goody Goody she used to be.

Yes, I once tricked Captain America into being an employee of the hospital where she lived next door, S.H.I.E.L.D.The woman who led her to believe she was not an agent has now been confirmed to be a power broker.

The appearance of Episode 5 only made fun of the possibility, but the finale of Falcon and Winter Soldier confirmed that, and Carly Morgentau called Carter a power broker in the standoff. And not only did she not deny it, Sharon gave a brief explanation of how she gave Karli the opportunity when she came to Madripoor. Carter's secret identity was immediately reconfirmed, so when Batroc (former MMA champion Georges Saint-Pierre) arrived, we all definitely got it.

Carter then killed Batlock after threatening to reveal her secret identity. By the end of the episode, many of the loose ends that could have revealed Sharon's secrets were eliminated. Appropriately, she closed the episode in the post-credit scene by getting a pardon from the US government, and even an invitation to return to work internally.

Of course, Carter immediately returned to power broker mode on her phone and told someone else to prepare to sell all government secrets, prototypes, etc. Who was in the other line. It was Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. We will see.

What it means for the MCU: There's a new big bad where the secret identity is still secret.

Speaking of Contessa (we don't call her Val), the scenes in another late episode seem strange to anyone who has followed the history of John Walker in comics. The name USAgent is associated with Walker just as Captain America was with Steve Rogers and is in the lead-up to the series. There was speculation as to whether he would eventually take up the mantle.

Then, in what appeared to be the same building where John Walker first met Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, he put on a new uniform and set up what would follow the Falcon and Winter Soldier finale.

As Walker explained, the American gentleman's armor is like his old Captain America armor, but with red and white stripes and black everywhere else, then Contessa named him USAgent and said, "Things are going to get weird," and people would need his help.

If you talk to fans, the big bullies including USAgent are that he could be a villain in the upcoming (and unannounced) Thunderbolts project, and USAgent once joined a group called the jury to fight Thunderbolt — a team that at one point included Baron Helmut Zemo. The game. But Contessa's remarks suggest that UAgent is a pawn on the side of evil and might help people who might be unleashed on her side of the equation.Yes, it's vague, but so did she.

This could also be a pivotal moment in the formation of the MCU's Dark Avengers, with Contessa taking on the role of Nick Fury and Usagent standing for Captain America.

What it Means for the MCU: John Walker is still active as a potential bad guy, but he still thinks he's good.
