Pre—order Apple AirTags and purple iPhone12 - here's when you can get your stuff

If you decide to buy something else at the Apple Store this morning, blame AirTags and the purple iPhone 12.

Apple has taken parts of the Apple Store offline in preparation for the start of pre-orders for its latest products. While most of the site is still accessible, the iPhone 12 and AirTags purchase pages will not be accessible until later today.

The store's hold page states that normal pages will be restored at 5:00 am PDT. Not a long wait, but if you wanted to buy another iPhone 12 or check out its specs before buying AirTags, you will have to wait.

AirTags is Apple's new key tracker, similar to existing products like Tile Mate. In our hands-on so far, we have found it easy to use from the Find My app. It also works especially well if you have an iPhone 11 or iPhone 12, which can track tags more accurately with the built-in U1 chip.

The new purple color of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini needs little explanation. We had a hands-on session with this new shade, and while it's not a color that all of us would want on our devices, it looks good. Now all we need is a metallic version for the iPhone 12 Pro.

In the meantime, it's worth taking a look at the new iPad Pro 2021 and iMac 2021, which were also premiered at Apple's Spring Loaded event. the 2021 iPad Pro uses the more powerful Apple M1 chip and the 12.9-inch model has a mini -LED XDR display. iMacs also use the M1 chip, but with a fresh, colorful new design and an upgraded webcam/microphone combo for better video calling.

The purple iPhone 12 and AirTags will officially launch on April 30. Pricing for the purple iPhone is the same as the other color options, $799 for the iPhone 12 and $699 for the iPhone 12 mini; AirTags are $30 for one or $99 for a set of four.
