The Mortal Kombat movie is almost here and we are ready to shout "MORTAL KOMBAT!" when it opens this weekend (although you can watch the first seven minutes now). The "Mortal Kombat" movie seems to offer everything one could ask for in an MK movie, with the exception of big-name actors. Instead, the "Mortal Kombat" films (wisely) use actors who are more than capable of choreographing the fights seen in the trailers.

The story also introduces a new fighter, Cole Young (Luis Tan), a former MMA fighter who is being hunted down by Sub-Zero. The man in the ice mask is after Young for a reason.

Of course, this is all just a setup for a ton of fights. In the movie Mortal Kombat, the best fighters on earth take on the best fighters in the outworld. And there will be plenty of appearances by your favorites, and maybe even a few surprises (already teased).

The "Mortal Kombat" movie will be available on HBO Max on April 23 at 3 a.m. ET. We can't wait. Now, here are the previews.

The release date for the "Mortal Kombat" movie, originally scheduled for April 16, has been pushed back to April 23. The reason for the postponement was not disclosed; Mortal Kombat will be released in cinemas and on HBO Max on the same day.

This is the latest "big movie" to be released on HBO Max on the same day as its theatrical release. Most recently, Godzilla vs. Kong was released on the same day in Japan. Wonder Woman 1984" pioneered this practice; HBO Max will no longer premiere on the same day in 2022.

The trailer for the film Mortal Kombat starts things off appropriately, with Liu Kang throwing a little red meat to fans by saying "Mortal Kombat has begun." And before long, a series of familiar faces appear, including Sonya Blade, Jax, Scorpion, and Goro.

Most notable casting is Mekad Brooks as Jackson "Jax" Briggs. Brooks is best known for his roles in Desperate Housewives, Supergirl, and The Game. Cole Young, a character created for the film, is played by Luis Tan ("Deadpool 2").

Sub-Zero was the first character cast in Mortal Kombat, with Joe Taslim being pulled in to fill the black and blue armor. His counterpart, Scorpion, is played by Hiroyuki Sanada of Avengers: Endgame.

Sub-Zero actor Joe Taslim ("The Raid/Redemption") plays a Bikan version of his character, aka the original version of Sub-Zero. The appearance of the cult favorite character Nobu Saibot (the last name of MK creators Ed Boon and John Tobias spelled backwards) was a big deal for fans of the game. Saibot used to be a bihan. However, that Sub-Zero became deranged and became the super-dark Saibot.

And when Collider asked about the possibility of Sub-Zero appearing in the film, the actor neither confirmed nor denied. Simply, he spelled out that it was very likely and said, "That's why Nub Saibot became Bi Han after it happened to him. Kwan Chi took the humanity in Bi Hanh and turned him into Noob Saibot. And we know from Bi Hanh's history that there is humanity in him and when he becomes a noob saibot, he just becomes very dark and pitch black. When the movie comes out, you'll know that when you see the character I play, Bi Han. So that's it. [laughs]"
