HTC Vive Air VR Headset Focuses on Fitness, Revealed in New Leak

Leaked images of a sports-focused virtual reality headset from HTC have appeared online. This wireless headset will take the fight to Facebook's Oculus Quest 2.

Details of the headset were first leaked by the World Design Guide Awards and later picked up by Engadget. The new headset, called the Vive Air, is designed to bring VR space into the VR space while keeping the headset from becoming sticky with sweat It aims to bring fitness into the VR space.

World Design Guide gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from the Vive Air. First, it must accommodate the sweating caused by strenuous exercise. To this end, the Vive Air is expected to use "breathable and quick-drying materials" to provide the breathability needed in the sweltering depths of VR aerobic exercise.

According to the website, the headset features a "quick-release design," allowing the soft material to be removed and washed. This is very convenient, given the often disastrous state of post-workout gear.

Vive Air is also inspired by sports shoes. Leaked images show several knitted headset components, each made of a mesh-like fabric commonly found in endurance shoes.

It also promises to maintain a feather-like presence on the head thanks to its "innovative lightweight construction," so it seems unlikely that one will need to worry about the headset's weight during a long workout.

The weight of a VR headset is an important part of the user's overall comfort when wearing the device for extended periods of time. Apple's VR headset is rumored to weigh only 150 grams.

There is no official word on an exact release date for the Vive Air, but according to The Verge, the headset may be unveiled at HTC's ViveCon 2021, which will be held on May 11 and 12.

Only time will tell if HTC has something special to offer; the HTC Vive has already demonstrated the company's flair for virtual reality, offering an unrivaled VR experience at the time and still being voted one of our best VR headsets It is still one of our best VR headsets.

The fitness-focused headset is a different kind of VR experience that will capture fitness-minded consumers looking for a quick workout wherever they are. If HTC can tap into this market, it would be a big win for the company.
