Reddit is the latest platform to launch its own version of Clubhouse, whose live audio service is already in the early testing stages; Reddit Talk will provide a Clubhouse-like experience sub-Reddit, and will be available on the Reddit community moderators' website, Community Moderator takes the reins.

Reddit Talk has been officially announced, but is not yet live. Users who want to try it out can sign up on a waiting list and will be able to use it as soon as they are ready. Although it has only just begun, Reddit Talk appears to be quite full-featured and, like most Clubhouse clones, has fairly similar functionality.

In the current version, only community moderators can start a talk, but anyone can join the room and listen. Users can respond with emojis and can also raise their hands if they wish to speak in turn, but this is subject to the host's permission.

The host has moderator privileges and can invite, mute, or remove speakers during a session. They can also remove users from the talk and stop them from rejoining the room. Room creation is currently limited to moderators, but "trusted speakers" can be invited to co-host.

Reddit Talk can be used for "whatever the community wants to use," but this format is "Q&A, AMAs, lectures, sports radio-style discussions, community feedback sessions," or community members discussing or hangout This is a great way to provide a space for community members to gather for.

The app joins other live audio apps following Clubhouse. There are also Twitter Spaces, a Clubhouse clone of Spotify, and a number of other apps that are alternatives to Clubhouse.

In the initial testing phase, redditors will only be able to listen to talks started by mods, but it will be open to both iOS and Android users.
