"The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" is a fun and silly action movie that we all want to see right now. Starring three stars, Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek, and Samuel L. Jackson, the film is sure to provide us with a bit of escapism while making us laugh out loud.

For those who don't remember 2017's "Hitman's Bodyguard," you may not know that this film is actually a sequel. The trailer, which you can watch below, plays almost like a trailer for a standalone film.

The story, though, is simple: Michael (Reynolds) is a private bodyguard who is fired after an assassination takes place under his watch. He is then forced to protect Darius (Jackson), an assassin who testifies against him, in exchange for his wife Sonia (Hayek) being released from prison.

Of course, chaos and betrayal ensued. Now the three come together again in the sequel.

And the first trailer for this sequel is set happily to the Britney Spears song "Hit Me Baby One More Time." The clip above shows Michael Blythe dealing with the trauma of the first film in therapy. His therapist's prescription is to take his noise-canceling headphones and "The Secret" to the beach.

Then the trouble begins. Darius has been kidnapped and Sonia has come to Michael's aid. We are intrigued by the premise and can't wait for the film to be released.

"The Killer Wife's Bodyguard" is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2021. And, as spelled out on the official website, it is "theatrical release only. That means it will have to wait for streaming.

While most of the main cast of "The Hitman's Bodyguard" (except Gary Oldman) returns for more gunfight fun, there is one major addition to the crew. It's Antonio Banderas, who appears as the new villain who kidnapped Darius.

Also in roles yet to be revealed are Morgan Freeman, Frank Grillo (who played the villain Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in Captain America: The Hitman's Bodyguard, which is available on Netflix internationally, and Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" is not available on Netflix in the United States. There may be some delicacy as to where the film will be distributed. Currently, "Hitman's Bodyguard" is only available on DirecTV, Sling, USA, TNT, TBS, and truTV streaming services.

This means that those of us in the US have no reason to hold our breath for a possible Netflix release. In fact, it appears that Sling and cable TV subscribers (or those who use streaming services including USA, TNT, and others) are most likely to be able to stream "The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard" without having to pay rental or purchase fees.
