Leaked iPhone13 mini-rendering show off brand new camera module

Leaked CAD renderings of the iPhone 13 mini may reveal a redesigned camera module for the next iPhone. While not significantly different from previous versions, it is more than enough to make the device stand out.

The rendered image itself comes from Chinese social network Weibo (via MyFixGuide). iPhone 13 mini's basic shape appears to be the same as the iPhone 12 mini, but Apple has shifted the camera lens slightly.

We also cannot see the front of the phone to get an idea of the size of the notch. However, multiple leaks suggest that the notch on this year's iPhone 13 will be noticeably smaller.

The rendered images, however, show a good view of the back. We can clearly see that the camera lens has been moved to a more diagonal position, rather than the vertical arrangement as it was last year. It looks a bit cleaner from what we can see, but does not seem to leave much room for extra components.

We fully expect the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max to have a third camera lens, just like last year. Assuming this same design, however, there is not much room left for an additional sensor. iPhone 12 Pro Max has a LiDAR sensor, which is rumored to be coming to other iPhone 13 models later this year.

Apple's LiDAR sensor is not the largest in the world, but it may struggle to fit in the redesigned module along with a third camera lens. But obviously we won't know that for sure until we see some convincing renderings of other iPhone 13 models. Or when Apple actually shows us the final design, whichever comes first.

It is worth pointing out that these renderings of the iPhone 13 mini do not suspiciously include LiDAR. This gives us reason to expect that the 2021 smallest iPhone may not be upgraded after all, assuming these images are reliable.

CAD renderings are one thing, but they are not the same as seeing the actual visuals of the iPhone 13 mini.

Thankfully, these renderings from Svet Apple show us what we should expect from this phone. Even though they are based on different leaks, they show off the new diagonal camera lens seen in the CAD renderings on Weibo. Furthermore, there is no mention of a LiDAR sensor.

Frankly, it is a very good-looking design, and the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are going to be quite striking looking phones.

We just hope that the iPhone 13 mini can improve on some of the problems people had with the iPhone 12 mini. In particular, poor battery life is definitely a result of the iPhone's small size. There is not much room for a battery in a small phone, and as a result, the overall capacity is always cut down.

The iPhone 13 mini is rumored to have the same 5.4-inch screen as the iPhone 12 mini, and one can only hope that Apple has made significant improvements to the device's energy efficiency to make it last longer. Especially when 5G is active.
