Google Photos has finally gained a new set of video editing features for Android, months after being included in iOS.

The revamped UI offers editing options such as cropping videos, adjusting brightness, and applying filters to clips. Still, the update is now live on Google Pixel and other Android phones, so you can head to the Play Store to make sure you're using the latest iteration.

To use the new features, simply open the video in the app and press the edit button below.

In addition to the basic cropping tools that were there before the update, Android users will find a "crop" tab for manually cropping clips - or choosing from preset aspect ratios, which is handy if you're posting to social media . You can also use this tab to rotate the video or change the perspective of the clip.

'Adjustments' allows you to drill down into finer details with options to fine-tune brightness, contrast, shadows, saturation, and more. This section of the app has quite a biking list of editing options, so it's worth looking through them all when you have time.

The "Filters" tab offers the same options available for photos, so you're probably already familiar with the ultra-bright "Vivid" and high-contrast black and white "Vista". The last tab, "Other," allows you to draw pictures on the video using markup tools or open third-party editing applications if they are installed on the device.

Google Photos is already a mainstay on our best photo editing apps list, but it hasn't yet made it to our best video editing apps page. This update may change that. Especially given that we consider Google Photos to be one of the best photo storage sites.

However, if you rely on Google Photos for cloud storage, keep in mind that it will no longer offer unlimited free storage as of June 2021. Instead, users will be limited to 15 GB of storage per Gmail account, which will be shared among Drive, Gmail, and Photos.
