Tesla Model 3 pricing Has Changed Again — What You Need To Know

Tesla is having trouble deciding on a price for the Model 3; according to Electrek, the company has added $500 to the electric sedan's price, with the Model 3 Standard Range Plus starting at $38,490, excluding a $1,200 destination charge.

This price change coincided with minor interior design changes.

The $500 price increase also affects the dual-motor long-range AWD, which jumps from $46,990 to $47,490. The range increases from 263 to 353 miles, the top speed improves by 5 mph, and the 0-60 mph acceleration is 4.2 seconds, 1.1 seconds faster than the Standard Range Plus.

The top-of-the-line Tesla Model 3, the Performance model, will see an even more significant price increase, rising $1,000 from $55,990 to $56,990. The top speed will be 162 mph and the 0-60 mph time will be 3.1 seconds. In addition, the Performance model comes equipped with 20-inch Überturbine wheels, performance brakes, a carbon fiber spoiler, aluminum alloy pedals, and lowered suspension to justify the high entry cost.

These prices are even higher if one desires something other than the default white paint. Solid black, midnight silver metallic, and deep blue metallic cost an additional $1,000, and red multi-coat costs an additional $2,000. The optional black and white interior adds another $1,000, and an additional $10,000 if you want access to the full self-driving beta with Tesla's Level 2 driver-assist technology.

The Tesla Model 3 is not the only vehicle that will see a price adjustment as a result of this price revision. The Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD has been raised $500 from $49,990 to $50,490, while the performance version remains unchanged at $60,990. It is unclear if the original $39,000 price plan has been maintained, as the entry-level Standard Range model is not yet found on the site.

Tesla has not commented on why prices continue to fluctuate, but it probably has something to do with the global semiconductor chip shortage that has affected everything from PS5 inventory to GM, Ford, and Honda production lines. It could also explain the 8-12 week delivery times for the Model S and 6-10 week delivery times for the Model Y
