HP Chromebook x360 14c Release date, price, specifications, etc.

Today, the HP team announced that updated models of the HP Chromebook x360 14c will hit store shelves this month.

First launched a few years ago, this line of notebooks blends HP's popular x360 gear-hinged design aesthetic with low-end components found on many Chromebooks. On the outside, little appears to have changed, but inside, the new HP Chromebook x360 14c features several notable upgrades.

The new HP Chromebook x360 14c starts at $649.99 on HP and Best Buy websites, and its base configuration includes an 11th generation Core i3 CPU and 128GB SSD.

HP has not yet confirmed a date, but these laptops could be available as early as today.

The good news is that the HP Chromebook x360 14c has some upgrades of its own, including an 11th generation Intel Core i3 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. Of course, this level of specs is to be expected for a $649 Chromebook. Samsung's $700 Galaxy Chromebook 2 also has a Core i3 chip and 8GB of RAM.

This is a nice bonus over the previous model, which could be purchased with only 64GB of low-quality eMMC storage and an older Intel Pentium Gold processor.

The HP Chromebook x360 14c has often struggled to outperform other similarly priced (~$600) Chromebooks, but regular discounts by retailers in the past have taken hundreds of dollars off the price, making it an attractive option for budget-minded buyers The product has become an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. We look forward to getting our hands on this product for review to see how it stacks up to the best Chromebooks on the market. [HP has included a 1080p multi-touch display on the Chromebook x360 14c. However, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 has a 1080p QLED display and is priced higher for a Chromebook.

HP rates the HP Chromebook x360 14c to last up to 10 hours and 45 minutes on a single charge, and we look forward to testing that in Tom's Guide's battery test.

The HP Chromebook x360 14c looks to be one of the latest interesting mid-range Chromebooks to offer decent specs at a slightly higher price than one would expect for a Chromebook. Will these prices continue? Samsung is currently discounting the (normally) $700 Galaxy Chromebook 2 to $600.
