Leading mattress brand Nectar has announced several small updates to its award-winning memory foam mattresses to improve performance. According to the company, the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress (which we consider the best mattress in the US) is now cooler and more stable than previous versions.

So what's new? Well, the biggest visible change is that the depth has gone from 11" to 12" and the Tencel cover has been replaced by a new cooling cover made of polyethylene. This is a soft, breathable fabric that is known for being excellent at dissipating heat and being cool to the touch.

Additionally, the width of the Twin and Twin XL models has been reduced by one inch, from 38" to 37". This reduced the weight of these size mattresses by approximately 5 pounds compared to the previous versions.

The increased height of the updated Nectar memory foam mattress is brought about by the additional inches of PU memory foam added to the base layer of the mattress. This provides additional support to the top layer of the mattress. It also pushes the mattress to the top of the depth range normally recommended for mattresses (10-12 inches), meaning added value packed into an already very competitive price tag. Additionally, it is somewhat more suitable for heavier users.

We are in the process of testing the new version and updating our review of the Nectar mattress, but it seems unlikely that these small changes will dramatically change our rating.

If you are considering purchasing a new mattress, the best time for discounts is typically in May due to Memorial Day mattress sales or later in the year due to Black Friday mattress deals. However, Nectar has had record sales for a year now, and we would be surprised if the current Nectar mattress deals get any better (the current discounts are the same as what we saw last year on Black Friday).
