Netflix Havoc: Tom Hardy Movie Release Date and Latest News

Netflix's "Havoc" is one of the streaming service's most anticipated films, thanks to a powerful duo that looks set to bring cinematic success. That's because star and producer Tom Hardy ("Mad Max: Death Road to Rage," "Venom") seems like the perfect actor for writer/director Gareth Evans to repeat his past success.

Evans is best known for 2011's The Raid and its sequel, The Raid 2 (2014). And in these films, one hard-nosed badass enters an unfriendly environment, and Evans was also the choreographer of the action.

Evans previously worked with Netflix on the 2018 horror thriller Apostle, one of Netflix's best horror films.

In announcing Havoc, Netflix noted that this is the beginning of a new partnership: "Gareth Evans has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix to produce and direct films for the studio over the next few years... Havoc is the first feature film under this new creative Havoc will be the first feature film under this new creative partnership.

Given that we only learned of the film's existence in February 2021, we are not optimistic that it will arrive this year; an early 2022 or even summer 2022 release seems more reasonable.

On February 19, Tom Hardy was the only cast member revealed to be in Netflix's announcement of Havoc. Hardy will also serve as producer. Hardy will apparently play the film's protagonist.

To quote the script from the announcement, Hardy will be a "damaged detective" who must "battle through the criminal underworld to rescue a politician's estranged son, while simultaneously unraveling a deep web of corruption and intrigue that engulfs the entire city." Yes, that is exactly the kind of film Tom Hardy would be working on.

Of course, Hardy is not alone; Variety reports that Forest Whitaker will also appear in the film. His role has not been disclosed.
