Apple event tipped to 4/6 - but this leak is probably fake

There is still no confirmation as to when Apple's April event will take place. There was a recent leak claiming a leaked date of April 6, which seems outlandish for several different reasons.

According to leaked images from the r/Apple Discord, Apple will unveil a new mini LED iPad Pro 2021, a new design iMac 2021, an Apple Silicon, and "refreshes" of the regular iPad and iPad mini. In addition, expect to see the long-awaited AirTags tracker.

While it is very likely that all these new Apple products will appear soon, the date of the hypothetical event and the leaked images themselves do not seem legitimate.

The leaked invitation uses "where to find us" along with a circular graphic that looks very similar to the leaked AirTags design, suggesting the presence of AirTags at the April event.

However, people on Twitter have expressed doubt, especially since the event is claimed to take place at "10 AM PST." As several have pointed out, California is now PDT, and Apple would have known that.

Also, if the April 6 date is legitimate, we probably would have heard something by now, since Apple usually gives a week's notice for virtual events.

Apple's April event will likely feature a new mini LED iPad Pro, a new iMac 2021 with a new design and Apple Silicon, and a "refresh" of the regular iPad and iPad mini, according to leaks.

For those who don't know, AirTags are Apple's answer to the Tile and other tracking gadgets. The key difference, however, is that Apple will use ultra-wideband (UWB) technology instead of Bluetooth. By doing so, AirTags can transmit location information, giving users a more precise location of where their lost items are.

Rumors suggest that AirTags would be about the size of a 50-cent coin and could be attached to objects with some sort of adhesive. Naturally, another leak suggests that Apple will have a number of accessories compatible with AirTags, allowing the tracker to be used as a keychain, wearable, or non-sticky accessory.

The AirTags are rumored to be priced at $39, the same as Samsung's Galaxy Smart Tag Plus, but we will have to wait and see if that is true.

Apple has not yet confirmed a date and time for the April event, and we won't know what will take place until it does. But if it is happening really soon, we should be able to hear any day now.
