Godzilla vs. Kong, the once-in-a-decade monster rematch, is the big showdown you've been waiting for. Now you can watch it on HBO Max. The film has already broken records for Warner Bros. Pictures, making fans hungry for its release.

The film has an overarching story, but one wonders if people want the film for the story. Sure, the film is part of a series dating back to the 2014 film GODZILLA Godzilla, but the brawl scene in the trailer looks amazing. That's good enough for me.

Released on March 24 around the world, "GODZILLA VS KONG" is already tearing up the international box office. It will open in the U.S. on March 31.

And the good news is that it's not just a theatrical release, because HBO Max will be streaming "GODZILLA VS KONG" at no extra charge, arriving March 31 and leaving 31 days later. Outside the U.S., "Godzilla vs. Kong" will appear on pay-per-view video-on-demand services beginning March 24, 2021.

This coincides with the release dates of "Wonder Woman 1984" and "Little Things. Dune is one of the other blockbuster films scheduled to be released on HBO Max at the same time as its theatrical release.

Criticism of "Godzilla Godzilla" was mixed, with Chris Evangelista of Slashfilm writing, "'Godzilla vs. Kong' is a movie without pretension. The monsters punch each other and destroy buildings. It's what this franchise has been striving for: a movie about monsters, not people."

On IGN, Zaki Hasan said, "'Godzilla vs. Kong' knows exactly what it wants to be and spends all of its two hours making that promise. Naturally, the humans are overshadowed by their giant co-stars, but it is a glorious love letter to the collective history of these iconic characters.

Collider's Steven Weintraub says, "Godzilla and Kong's appearance is what makes this film worth seeing on the IMAX screen. There are scenes that showcase the power of each, and the third act is fantastic." Brandon Davis of the "Phase Zero" podcast tweeted, "It's like 'Wild Speed,' but with giant monsters," and said, "It's a big, silly, awesome movie."[15

Forbes reporter Scott Mendelsohn called the film "great," before comparing it to Joss Whedon's "Justice League," which he disagreed with, saying it was a "retrofitted and scaled-down 'trajectory correction' for the masses."

The trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong, the most popular trailer in Warner Bros. film history, received over 15 million views in its first 24 hours.

The clip begins with footage of Godzilla attacking a city. Analysis of the still images shows that this is supposed to be South America, and that Godzilla is soon tearing the world apart.

A voice is heard saying, "This is our only chance," and Kong is shown being transported by the standard means of transportation, a cargo ship. He is either asleep or out of shape, but I lean toward being tranquilized. Apparently this is Monarch's doing.

"We need Kong," says Alexander Skarsgård. Alexander Skarsgård says. Kong is set to be Earth's mightiest hero, fighting the spiky pain in our asses. The only problem is. Kong only communicates through small children.

After the standard "army vs. Godzilla" action, Monarch's weapons (unsurprisingly) don't hurt the king of monsters, and he gets down to business.

There's even a UFO sighting at the end of the trailer, if you squint. In addition, Kong will fight two new Titans, a pair of winged beasts. According to leaked goodies, they are Noduki and Warbat.

A new trailer in Chinese offers the first glimpse of Mechagodzilla, which was always expected in the film. Please skip to 1:16 in the trailer while watching.

Throughout the rest of the trailer, we see humanity trying to find a way to stop the rampaging Godzilla.

This includes two key characters from "Godzilla: King of the Monsters": Kyle Chandler ("Friday Night Lights") as Dr. Mark Russell and Millie Bobby Brown ("Stranger Things") as his daughter Madison. Russell will reprise her role.

This is the latest chapter in the Monsterverse that began with 2014's GODZILLA Godzilla. There, beginning in the 1950s, we learned about the Monarch organization that participated in the hydrogen bomb attack against Godzilla at Bikini Atoll.

While this is the culmination of those films, don't expect it to be a conclusion. From the trailers, it appears that we are about to open a giant Pandora's box of monsters. In this chapter, Monarch is trying to find the truth about where the giants came from.
