We have heard many rumors about the OnePlus Nord SE, but it turns out that the successor to the original OnePlus Nord may have been cancelled.

This is according to leaker Max Jambor, who first leaked the news that OnePlus was indeed developing the OnePlus Nord SE. Apparently this phone will not be released to the public, so it may as well not exist at all.

The OnePlus Nord SE was first leaked in November. The phone was to be an upgraded version of the OnePlus Nord, with enhanced features such as 65W fast charging, etc. Jambor also claimed that the phone would be made in collaboration with designer Joshua Vides and would not be an official sequel but a " He claimed that it would be a "special edition" version of the original Nord.

However, it appears that this phone is no more; Jambor does not mention any such term as "cancelled," though it is not clear why. Instead, he simply states that this phone will not be presented to the public. If the phone does exist, even more so.

Even if OnePlus has no intention of mass producing the OnePlus Nord SE, it might be worthwhile to disclose what it was working on regardless. After all, the company already showed off the OnePlus Concept phone last year and made it clear that it was not a commercial device.

Unless, of course, there are other mitigating factors. Like the partnership with Joshua Vides, which may have been complicated by the decision to publicly display the handset without selling it.

According to Jambor, the name "OnePlus Nord SE" may be used for future phones. However, it will not be the phone we have been expecting since late last year. He also points out that the OnePlus Nord 2 is still to come, so those waiting for a solid mid-range offering have something to look forward to.

We expect it to launch in late summer or early fall with a design fairly close to the original OnePlus Nord. Rumors also suggest that it will feature the MediaTek Dimensity chipset instead of the more expensive Qualcomm Snapdragon chip. This would keep costs down and maintain the idea that the Nord series is a wallet-friendly phone series.
