Apple's car design appeared — we know which one to drive

The Apple Car is a fascinating concept, but we still know very little about who will build it and whether it will be self-driving. But most importantly, we don't know what an Apple-designed car would look like. That's not going to stop concept designers from presenting their own ideas in the form of speculative renderings of the Apple car.

The latest renderings by Leasefetcher paint a very intriguing picture by taking five current vehicles and mashing them up with current and classic Apple products.

The most eye-catching of these is a Nissan GT-R merged with an iPhone 12 Pro. The design combines the sportiness of the GT-R supercar with Apple's latest cell phone technology. The door handles look like iPhone buttons and the headlights have three lenses.

The design makes it easy to imagine it on the road. [For example, the original iMac may have revived Apple's corporate fortunes before the turn of the century, but it would not be the best inspiration for an automobile. Still, that hasn't stopped Leasefetcher from creating a new look for the Honda E with an all-in-one desktop. Apple fans may appreciate the iMac-style curves and Bondi Blue color scheme, but we're guessing it's not a car that would be acceptable to Steve Jobs.

We speculate that the Leasefetcher, which combines a Toyota Supra with an iPod Classic, would be more likely to win people's hearts. The simple but elegant mashup looks like a sleek version of the sedan you see on the road, only with more Apple logos. The mashup reveals a tidy "turbulence gray" color with alloys that mimic the iPod's click-wheel controller and a minimal front grille.

Older Apple Car renderings include images of a Kia Soul EV and iMac Pro, and a Hyundai Ioniq Electric and Apple Mouse mashup, all with designs inspired by the Apple fusion which are largely inspired by the Apple fusion.

While these designs are certainly interesting, it is important to note that they are from the designer's imagination and are not official leaks about the Apple Car. We know that Apple is working hard to push out what is rumored to be a fully autonomous car, but it probably won't hit the market until the next 5-7 years. But if the final product is anything like what is shown in these renderings, the roads will look a much different place.
