Hbo Max has added features Netflix Wants to Have — How to Try It Now

HBO Max is evolving every day, and its latest trick to becoming the best streaming service is so obvious that it's shocking that Netflix hasn't done it before. In addition to adding a series of profile photo options, you can now use actual photos of yourself on your HBO Max account. Yes, unlike other services where you choose your favorite character or design, HBO Max now allows you to use your own profile photo.

This feature is available now (we tried it) and will roll out to all devices by March 26. In addition, 120 characters will be added. Whether it's Daenerys Targaryen, Angela Aber from "Watchmen," the "Man in Black" from "Westworld," or even yourself, we have step-by-step instructions on how to make it happen.

This is a huge improvement over what HBO Max had before, where one initial represented your profile.

According to the press release announcement, "This image will appear on all supported platforms that the user is signed in to. This is because even though the image was uploaded using the HBO Max app on the iPhone, it has not yet been updated on Chrome.

This is a great addition, as HBO Max seems to be picking up steam after the attention Zack Snyder's "Justice League" garnered over the weekend.

As long as HBO Max continues to fill in the gaps and improve on what other competitors are doing (Netflix can choose icons from their IPs), the service will retain users and not lose them through churn. Also, the $15/month fee (higher than Netflix, Disney Plus, and Hulu) would indicate that this app needs to be made as sophisticated as possible.

It may be necessary to give HBO permission to access the camera and image library.
