If you needed one more reason to get the OnePlus 9 Pro, this might be it. According to a new report, the OnePlus 9 Pro will support 50W of ultra-fast wireless charging. The base model OnePlus 9 will also support wireless charging, albeit much slower.

The OnePlus 8 Pro launched last year with a 30W wireless charging speed, and we expected the OnePlus 9 Pro to have the same. However, according to tests conducted by The Verge, the OnePlus 9 Pro's wireless charging speed is much faster than that.

50W is not as fast as the 65W wired charging speed we expect from the OnePlus 9 Pro, but not far behind. In fact, The Verge reports that with the right wireless charger, it can be fully charged in just 43 minutes.

Compare this to Samsung's Galaxy S21, which only offers 15W wireless charging. This is more than three times slower than what OnePlus offers. Furthermore, the OnePlus 9 Pro is faster than the Galaxy S21's 25W wired charger.

In our tests, the Galaxy S21 wired charger could only charge 55% of the battery in 30 minutes; the OnePlus 8 Pro's 30W wireless charging can do the same, which means the OnePlus 9 Pro has the advantage.

Furthermore, according to The Verge's testing, the OnePlus 9 Pro's wired charging takes only 29 minutes to reach 100 percent charge. Not only is this an embarrassing defeat for the Galaxy S21, but it is also slightly faster than the OnePlus 8T using the same 65W charger.

In our tests, the 8T was able to reach 93 percent in 30 minutes. Therefore, the 9 Pro shows a slight but noticeable improvement over its predecessor.

According to OnePlus, the 9 Pro was able to achieve such fast wireless charging thanks to the twin-cell battery first introduced in the OnePlus 8T. Each cell can charge wirelessly at 25W at the same time, effectively doubling the charging speed.

OnePlus also uses a higher voltage that generates less heat rather than more amperage and uses a proprietary charging pump to prevent the phone from getting hot in the process.

For those thinking of avoiding the OnePlus 9 Pro, there is good news. The base OnePlus 9 is also set to support wireless charging this time around.

Sadly, the speed is limited to 15W, considerably lower than the OnePlus 9 Pro. But wireless charging is wireless charging, and it's about time OnePlus realized that. At least it's still the same speed as the Galaxy S21, but OnePlus' charging technology may help give the phone a competitive edge.

One thing to note, however: the OnePlus 9 Pro will only support fast wireless charging with the new OnePlus Warp Charge 50 charger. With a regular Qi charger, the wireless charging speed is limited to 15 W. Same with the OnePlus 9 and Galaxy S21.

The price of this charger is unknown, but it won't be cheap; the OnePlus 8 Pro wireless charger costs $70 to $80, depending on which design you choose. So you should expect it to cost at least that much this time around.

The good news is that the improvements made this year don't just mean faster charging speeds. The new charger has two charging coils, so it doesn't matter if the phone is in portrait or landscape mode.

The OnePlus 9 Pro will be available on March 23 and will feature a 6.7-inch QHD display, 120 Hz display refresh rate, 8-12 GB RAM, 128-256 GB storage, Snapdragon 888 chipset, 4,500 mAH battery, a 16MP front camera, and OnePlus' new Fluid Display 2.0. The rear camera will be Hasselblad branded and will have four lenses: a 48 MP main lens with an ultra-wide angle lens, an 8 MP telephoto lens, and a fourth lens not yet announced.

The OnePlus 9 will be released at the same time with the same specifications. The difference is that the 6. 5-inch FHD display and a triple-lens rear camera consisting of a 48MP main lens, an ultra-wide angle lens, and a 5MP macro lens.
