It looks like the launch of Google Pixel5a is imminent — here's why

The arrival of the Pixel 5a is not that far off, if rumors are to be believed. Moreover, Google's budget phone is likely to have a strong presence in India, the world's second largest smartphone market.

We have seen and heard more details about the phone, which now appears to have passed certification at the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The device in question is unnamed, but the timing seems too convenient for one of Google's other phones, which is due at the end of 2021.

The device, spotted by Twitter user @stufflistings, is named GROM2. It has completed the BIS inclusion process, meaning it is well on its way to final release. Again, we do not know what exactly the GROM2 is, but we strongly believe it is the Pixel 5a.

For what it's worth, we do know that Google is ramping up production of the Pixel 5a for India; the Pixel 4a was unexpectedly popular in the country and Google has had a hard time keeping up with demand.

So this year, in addition to being poised to meet the possible high demand, the company may shift some of its production to India. This will likely reduce shipping time and costs for Indian buyers, as well as taxes and duties.

For now, we will have to wait for more leaked information or official confirmation from Google for more details on the Pixel 5a. since the Pixel 4a's camera is already one of the best you can buy, especially given its price point, we do not see much in the main 12.2MP camera I don't think we will see any upgrades.

From the renderings we've seen so far, it looks like the Pixel 5a will maintain the minimalism that Pixel fans (myself included) love. We expect the Pixel 5a to be fairly similar to the previous model in terms of specs, with some minor upgrades to keep the phone relevant for 2021.
