The Realme 8 Pro is about to offer serious camera technology when it launches next month.

The young Chinese phone maker has announced that it will launch its next phone on March 24 with the brand's first 108MP camera. And based on the price of previous Realme phones, this could be a very inexpensive device.

Typically, 108MP cameras are found on more expensive phones, such as the $1,199 Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, the Realme 7 Pro, released last year, costs just £279, about the same as the price of the Moto G Stylus in the US.

Realme does not use the exact same sensor as the one in the S21 Ultra; Realme states that it uses the ISOCELL HM2, while the S21 Ultra has the newer ISOCELL HM3.

Other than this camera, we don't know much about the Realme 8 Pro; based on the 7 Pro, a Snapdragon 7 series chipset, three cameras on the back, at least a 4,500mAh battery with 65W charging, and a 6.4" FHD display is expected; not as outstanding specs as the 108-megapixel camera, but still impressive for the price.

The basic Realme 8 has been teased in detail by Realme CEO Madhav Sheth. This model will feature a 64MP main camera, which is small enough, albeit smaller than the Pro's camera. It will also have a 6.4-inch display, a 5,000mAh battery with 30W wired fast charging support, and a Helio G95 chipset.

If you want a cheap phone with a 108MP camera now, you can look instead at the Redmi Note 10 (at least in the UK) or the rumored Nokia G10. These models may not reach the heights of the best camera phones we'll showcase, but for users who want a camera-focused budget or mid-range phone, 2021 is going to be a great year thanks to these devices.
