Ohio State looked to be on a similar path to the semifinals as Illinois University. The Buckeyes played a tough game and led Michigan by 13 points with 4:19 remaining. The Wolverines then started hitting shots and went on a 17-5 run to cut the deficit to one point. With two seconds left, Michigan senior guard Mike Smith made the game-winning 3-point shot, but missed; Ohio State won 68-67. Junior guard Duane Washington led the Buckeyes with a game-high 24 points.

The teams split the season series, with the road team winning each time. Illinois State enters Sunday as a 6-point favorite and the over/under is 150.The Buckeyes will be without senior guard and team leader Kyle Young, who is not expected to play in the Big 10 Championship. Young suffered a concussion against Purdue on Friday, his second in the last three weeks.
